Default Back at the show

It's business as usual, after a nice lunch. Jenny's gone back to her desk and I'm being awed by sound, cars, bikes and girls. What else is there to life, lol.

Sam you take a lot of photos. For guys like Der Alte and me it is a nostalgia trip. Funny I have been to many of the same places but never felt the need to take a photo.

Thanks for sharing and for catering to the Yetiblog addiction.

Default Dinner for two :)

Finally this evening it is just the two of us and we decide to do something quiet and romantic.

I want to eat in an old-school traditional place. I know where I want to go, I had been there last year, Jenny does not know the place.
I enter the coordinates on the Navi and we're there.

The food is old style, traditional and the portions are huge. Everything exudes and old world charm and the wood smells of hundreds of years of smoke, only you are no longer allowed to smoke in here.
Things have changed since I last came here. They now have a younger waitress there along with the other ladies and just like all the young Germans, she speaks English.

I order the Schnitzel with potatoes and Jenny has a Salad. It is a wonderful warm evening.
Then we drive home.

Good Night everybody.

About time too!

Glad to hear there is lots more to come.

I wonder if India will ever get an exhibition like this? Makes the Chennai Trade centre happenings look like a jumble sale!

That Denon amp looks like one of my creations only neater. :-)

Q: 10 channels of audio but 3 VU meters? I assume the VU meters are switchable. The way I'd do it switch the left VU meter betwen left front, left sides, and left rear; the right VU meter accordingly and the center VU meter between sub and center. I dont know how they did it do you?

BTW I'm told it one of the most VFM amps out there.

Sam, even the ICE-Mod knows the VW Sirrocco has been one the most eagerly awaited cars in Germany.

We will when our market grows to about 5 times it's current size (expect this to happen around 2020).

Navin, you have to say all that mumbo jumbo about audio to remind us that this is an automotive forum dealing with ICE.

I was enjoying the story and suddenly I read about VU meters , amps and thud come crashing back . hehe.

Default YetiBlog® - 2nd Sept 2008 - Out for a holiday

When I woke up on Tuesday morning I felt the need to take a holiday. It may seem inexplicable to you, but somehow I had been working or waiting (warting, as ze Germans would say) for Jenny to get some free time.

It wasn't her fault, she needed to work, but it was a little frustrating sometimes. Plus the fact that I was away from home - 7000 kms away meant that I needed to explore something new. Yes, I had had a great first half yesterday, exploring Berlin, but it wasn't brand new stuff.

I was thinking of going to Hamburg. Alone. I would return in 2 days and then we could take a short break together. (A short break from what - you may ask. Keep asking, lol)
But it didn't make much sense.

While Jenny said it was OK (she did look a little disappointed) - I decided to think about it for a little while. A little while for me means 20 minutes in the toilet.

--------------------------

It was a warm bright sunny day. German weather is as unpredictable as its women. What was a great day today may turn into a gloomy cold wet day tomorrow. Carpe Diem was the only way to go.

I knew I wanted to visit some of the superb lakes Germany had to offer, one of them was the famous Wannsee. The German word for all lakes is "see" but in German, "ee" is pronounced as "AY" so Spree is pronounced Spray and Wannsee is pronounced Vannsay.
It was a bright and sunny day. What better day than today.

Nevermind travelling all the way to Hamburg, I decide to visit the Wannsee and return home in the evening. But first....
------------------------------------------------------
I relax, wasting time till 12 noon. Walking around, sitting around the areas around the hotel.

I then go to the bluemax theatre on my way to the S-Bahn station. I get 2 premium tickets to the Blue Man Group for tonight. As promised they are 60 bucks each. The guy promises me that they are the best seats in the house. I believe him.

Wannsee is simple to go to, just like any other place in and around Berlin. I simply have to get into an S-Bahn at Potsdamer Platz and get off at Wannsee, 35 minutes later.
Wannsee is also close the the old town of Potsdam which is supposedly a beautiful old town with castles and stuff, but I'm in a lake mood today.

As I get off at Berlin-Wannsee I get out of the station, buy myself another Paulaner and start walking. I am aware that there are many lakes in the district, some beaches (yes proper beaches around the lake) and certain wild and woody areas around the many small and large lakes in this district.
There is also a large area of the lake dedicated to the clothes-free culture.

I do not know where it is. I have landed here simply clutching my camera and an S-Bahn ticket.
Logic takes me across the street , I cross over to find that I am at the Wannsee Boat station. Ah well. It is beautiful.

I can see cruise boats and even itinerary's but clearly everything here is for German speaking tourists. Matters not. I have spent many days listening to people around me speaking German. I can do it again.

The time is 1.30 and I can see a nice boat leaving in 5 minutes. Experience has taught me that it will leave in 5 minutes.
I run back to the ticket counter, slide my money in and run back holding my ticket. A brief nod and smile and I'm on the top of a rather nice boat. I have gathered that it will cruise through 7 different lakes. The commentary is of course all in German.

I find a good spot and take the cap off my camera. This already looks like many pictures.

Default At the lake, on a boat - ah Life!

I can go on writing, telling you how beautiful the lake was and how wonderful it was to see the people relaxing and enjoying life. Their beautiful homes and gargens and their boats parked like cars, waiting to go where they want to...

Some boats parked there as the owners live in the city working and living, coming over the weekends with their family to enjoy a good picnic and/or sunbathe and fish. Ah... I feel the envy coming in.

Yes I could go on telling you more, but I think I'll let the pictures do the talking.
