Could you tell us something about the internet that has changed your life? Made a difference that you could not have achieved without it?

I first think of Team-BHP. There is something that changed my life and would have been impossible without the Internet.
But I pause for a minute and think of something closer to my heart. I smile. There is something that would have been impossible without the internet and I know what it is.

I nod and start talking.

About a year ago I fell in love with a young lady from Germany. She lives here, in this country and I live in India, 7000 kilometres away.
We do not see each other often enough, it is impossible.
However every night before I sleep, I spend at least 2 hours talking to her, seeing her face and listening to her voice.

Thanks to the internet - we are together even though we are miles apart. A relationship which would not have lasted, it would have been both impractical and impossible is a real relationship today.

She grins. She's got a great story.

So there is a real happy story about the internet. I am happy that you are happy together. How is the relationship progressing?

Beautifully. We got engaged last month and she is moving to India in the next few weeks.
I didn't know the story in full detail before I read it here. Quite a nice incident and soooo very true

You happen to remember when you are on TV? It would be great to see this and I do get BBC here!

Trust me, she looked anything but a grandmother on stage. Her body was actually muscles pure - so much that I remember telling my colleagues that there is hardly anything really female or soft about her.

So you do not honestly expect me to believe you Gautam? Though I must say: nice try

I missed that vital small fragment!

I thought that the engagement had happened long ago, even before Jenny's trip to India!

Congratulations, both, on the formal event, though.

And the move to India is fixed? I missed that too? Again, I guess that's been a foregone conclusion for a while too --- how else would Jenny get to enjoy that marble long-term! But date fixed? Wow!

Thank you for your wishes Nick. Yes I proposed to Jenny last month, during the surprise visit and she accepted happily.

And yes, she will move to India after Christmas.

We have not decided on any wedding plans as yet but hopefully she will be Mrs.Yeti® sometime in 2009.

Sam, I know! Love Hurts.

Blame it on Nostalgia.

This was the song on my walkman when I left Germany for good.

Oh I'm sorry but it's true
You're bringin' on the heartache
Takin' all the best of me
Oh can't you see?
You got the best of me
Whoah can't you see?

Can we expect a short pictorial/story about this incident or is it asking for a bit too much?

I've spotted them!

Along with quite a few other BHPians along the paths of their recent tours in India, I'm sure.

But after the wedding, maybe it'll be The Two spottings instead?

my kids have the same Thomas and friends set -- they spread it in the whole room and keep playing with it for hours altogether....

Oh come on. How can there be a pictorial/ What makes you think I was taking pictures of this intimate moment?

There isn't much to share.
There was no fanfare, no fancy restaurant, no flowers, no music. We sat by a quiet river and I asked her.
You would have to be a woman to visualize all of that in one second and understand.

It was a quiet and very personal moment. I hope you understand.
