Maybe I'm an odd man out here, the front headlamps are quirky. The rear looks awesome though. The headlamps reminds me of XUV 500 and that too looked odd to me. The photo of the front end at night is accentuating the oddness.

This is the only car after the Fluidic Verna which is strikingly different looking. Hopefully Renault launches this India soon.
With Renault's reputation to make cars with the near perfect balance of ride and handling, I don't see why this car shouldn't sell as long as it's well built, has the right engine+transmission combos and is well priced.

Renault can offer a maintenance plan/extended warranty to woo customers.

Oh you beauty, bring it on Renault! dCi130 with Dual Clutch Automatic option sounds meaty. Being one of the very few Fluence owners around, I can vouch for its rock solid reliability and drive, easily amongst the most underrated cars in India. Would have loved some more power on tap, but the current version is no slouch either. Megane could be a perfect replacement, but I'm sure, Renault India will find a way around to screw up another great product . Yet another marketing disaster maybe?

This made me wonder... What cars look the most distinctive? My vote is pretty much any Jaguar. Its not just the grill (on that note, every manufacturer is distinct). The coupe-like shape, the angry/frowning headlamp configuration and of course, the grill.

Of course, Minis are pretty distinctive as well. As is the VW Golf.

Seems like a worthy successor to my gracefully ageing Civic! If only, Renault would launch such a beauty in India!

On a slightly different note (maybe a different thread), why doesn't Hyundai bring it's Kia and Infiniti range to India! Countries like Iran are flooded with the latest Hyundai and Kia models (and that too pre sanctions) while we have to make ourselves content with i20 and Verna!

Its one smart looking car. Too bad they decided to go bonkers with the lights.

I really don't like those legs on the headlights and taillights. But they got the silhouette and proportions absolutely spot on.

Thanks RavenAvi for sharing this information along with the pics.

Looking from the front, I thought that the car has an angry face. I would have liked a mild smile instead of anger. Also the logo on the front grill should have been smaller IMO.

Proportions indeed look very good.

Yup! No Clio to tackle the i20, no Megane sedan to tackle the Corolla. No Twingo, which is so so cute and practical with its tiny turning circle. Nope. Instead we got the Lodgy and the Micra family.

Surely with their economies of scale at the Chennai plant, we could get a well priced European spec model. Drivetrains are similar to those sold in India, if I'm not wrong, particularly their 1.5 dCi

On the pricing side of things, the Clio is actually cheaper, at entry level, than the Baleno in the UK market!

On a side note, seems as though I've become a Renault basher after the "Safer Kwid for Brazil" post.

Rejoice, guys.

Renault has announced that the Megane sedan will be arriving on Indian shores in 2017 as a replacement for the Fluence. (link)

The first of the new model pipeline is likely to be a premium sedan based on the Megane hatchback. The model, slated for an India launch in 2017, will replace the Fluence sedan and is positioned between the Honda City and Civic.

The car is really nice, I personally think the rear lights are bit over done (I am gonna cut some slack for the headlight design though ). A proper tail light (without the extended "tail") would have made the rear look a lot better IMO.

The engine options are a bit scary though. While Fluence didn't have a 90 bhp variant (I can't recollect any), I really hope Renault doesn't think of a variant to pleasantly surprise us on the price front.

Renault needs a proper USP and it looks like have an edge in terms of features, a good engine option is what is required to create a ripple; bring the 130 bhp diesel with a solid price to start with please - you may bring the 110 bhp later to widen the appeal ( & price bracket).

The badge re-engineering has been a disaster for both the brands by not allowing the second entrant to price it competitively. You don't sell the car (in most cases) and on top, the other brand has to price it (atrociously) high making these a dead-on-arrival.

I think both Nissan & Renault has commented that there will be no more badge re-engineering, which is a good move.

I pray they give us the right engine options.

Do I see an all new segment for sedans bring created out there? The City is 12-14 and Corolla is 19-22. Big gap in between at around 15-17, ie the Creta price range where the Fluence might try to position itself.

Interesting times ahead!

Wow, that's one helluva looker. Looks lovely hope they bring it to India sometime and with powerful engine options as well. In India, the scene seems to be fast changing with the market moving towards "SUVish" looks but a sedan like this with decent GC should be fun to drive

Any speculation/rumors on an India launch anytime soon ?
