McLaren to reinvent iconic F1 with new GT car
The McLaren F1 will be reinvented before the turn of the decade in a project made possible by the bespoke skills of the firmís Special Operations division. The all-new, limited-edition car will pay homage to the iconic F1 and include many of its standout design features, including the three-seat layout, powered dihedral doors with openings that extend to the roofís central vein, and a roof snorkel. However, the car is also being engineered to an all-new brief as an ultra-powerful GT car.

re: McLaren to reinvent iconic F1 with new GT car
A bit sad with this news. More than 2 decades back i decided to become an Engineer seeing the original McLaren F1. From the purity of purpose that the original F1 had, they are moving it to Aston Martin territory.
Autocar UK does seem to have a whole lot of articles dedicated to this.
I agree with the below indicated article about losing the purity of purpose of such a legendary name.
