Hyundai's i30 reviewed by AE- not above the competition!

It’s more sluggish if you ask for too much grunt from low revs, but keep it in the power band and it’ll accelerate cleanly for brisk overtakes

The steering isn’t as sharp, however, requiring lots of little adjustments to keep the car on the straight and narrow. There’s little feedback through the wheel, which doesn’t fill you with all that much confidence on a twisting mountain road.

The trade off for that tight body control is a fidgety ride around town, but it smoothes out nicely at motorway speeds. In fact, the i30 is a remarkably refined cruiser

The 2015 model was equally dreary and with a horrible steering. Driving it on the narrow B Roads of Lake District was definitely daunting. Made me give up the challenge to climb the Hardknott pass after barely making it thru the Wrynose pass.
When I had complained about the steering while taking the delivery, the Enterprise guy gladly pointed me to the button on the steering wheel which made the steering a wee bit heavier

The estate/station wagon version of the all-new i30 (i30 Tourer in Hyundai parlance) has been revealed, and it looks good!

It's not a case of form over function, either:

Quote:
Inside the body, things are as functional as you’d expect. A total of 1,650 litres of boot space makes it one of the biggest cars in its class for shifting stuff about, as well as more commodious than the Ford Mondeo estate from the next class up. Impressive.
