Renault has teased the Twingo GT soon to be put on sale and man - oh - man does it look enticing!

The size of a Zen with rear-wheel drive, good old manual transmission, a 900cc turbo engine, 110Ps and a meaty 170Nm of twisting force! :thumbs up

Why - oh - why don't Indian customers become a wee bit more performance oriented, create some mass market niche, so that we can drive cars like these?
:Frustrati

Attaching a few pics for your viewing pleasure.

Wow. This looks incredible. I wouldn't mind this engine in the Kwid avatar too. But yeah, the whole package will be a dream come true.

We Indians have always loved everything BIG - except the engine, transmission and brakes of course. This puny little car may be on steroids but there is a very low probability of it actually seeing sales numbers which might entice Renault to bring it here.
Who will be ready to shell out 10 - 15L for this car and that too for a Renault badge!

Good Ol manual transmission, 900cc and a 170 nm of torque!
It's a complete pocket rocket in every aspect and a drool worthy machine for every petrolhead out there. Love the paint job on the one in the picture where the orange matte finish with the black stripes adds the sportiness factor yet doesn't go all Abarth with the styling! lol:( Abarth Scorpions on Punto)
Sincerely hope they add some more sporty shades for the customers to choose from.

Because we are not a mature market enough to pay the price for it!

Here's the UK Twingo brochure. Go straight to page 36. The 70 hp base variant is 9545 GBP, thats roughly a shade above 8 lakh INR. Goes all the way to 11 lakh change INR for the 90 hp top end automatic. We haven't started talking about the 110 hp version yet :)

All this for a city car. In Indian car terms, its best compared with Brio sort footprint with pretty cramped legroom and is best brought as a 3 door version for commute. For the money paid, its not a car that stands out.

Moreover Renault doesn't have a perception a performance brand in India.

VW's Up pretty much slots in the same segment as the Twingo. The VAG group has a better perception too. Still I doubt that they'd bring the Up! to India.

Ahhh - just the perfect formula, isn't it? You forgot two details = it's got a rear engine & weighs 900 odd kilos. Should make it even more fun to drive.

Can't see it like that. The VW Polo starts at GBP 11,000 which equates to 9.4 lakhs. In India however, it starts at 5.xx lakhs.
