Default Celebrating 25 years of the McLaren F1

One of the most Iconic Cars of our generation, Mclaren F1 celebrates its 25th birthday today.

This is one car which inspired an 8 year old me to be an Engineer. With no offense to the Hypercars that followed, none have been able to combine simple aesthetics (Read no garish diffusers, spoilers etc) with aerodynamics.

Commemorating this event, Mclaren would be sharing a series of anecdotes about the car in the 12 months that follow with the first one shared below.

Nothing comes close to the F1 in sheer character, even if she's been displaced on the charts.
That performance at that time....Madness!!
My omnipresent poster car, this.

Probably one of the best known F-1 owners: Rowan Atkinson.

Makes for an interesting read as well. Rowan used this car extensively, crashed it, had it repaired for nearly a million quid and finally sold it, after 17 years for around 8 million pounds!

Indeed the greatest supercar of the 20th century.

Here is Jeremy Clarkson review of the 1993 McLaren F1 supercar.

"The difference between a really really fast car......and Mclaren F1."
He doesnt like it much, actually.

But the car looks absolutely poetic in this video.

Kind of sad that Mclaren would share only 1 video per month. Spent today remembering this car with these videos and boy was it good.

Tiff Needell spends time describing the Mclaren F1. The sad picture quality could not be an excuse to miss out the details in manufacturing shown in the video.

Next in line was this small documentary from the 90s.

My favourite videos of the day were the EVO videos involving this beauty.

McLaren P1 vs McLaren F1

Watch out for the parting shot of the two beauties in the sunset. Wallpaper worthy.

McLaren F1 and Ferrari F40 vs analogue rivals

You get to know how easy Mclaren F1 is to drive as you see Henry Catchpole sit in it through the entire video and reminisce about the other cars and describe them. Mind you he is driving a relic from the past with nearly 100K miles on the clock.

And my favourite video of the day.
McLaren F1 - The Details

Have never seen anyone so lovingly describe this car so lovingly as Henry Catchpole in this video.

A nice Saturday spent i should say. I could spend my time with these videos till Mclaren share their next video next month.

I love this car to bits! Used to race it everyday in Need For Speed II SE, and it was the fastest car in the game, and also in the world at that time. It still looks beautiful even now, and I have dreamt of owning this car so many times since I was a child
