Arrow Italdesign Automobili Speciali & their 1st Supercar

Italdesign, Audi's design & engineering subsidiary, have formed a business division to build limited edition supercars.

They have released pictures of their latest ultra-limited series super-car;

This is the same design house which gave us cars like the the DeLorean and Lotus Esprit.

Powered by a 5.2-liter NA V10 engine, whose specs have yet to be released. But its the same engine that powers the Lamborghini Huracan and Audi R8

Only 5 will be made & reportedly those also have been sold out.

Will debut at Geneva Motor show 2017.

I have always been curious to know what kind of people buy such cars. Are these thoroughbred auto enthusiasts? I am bit skeptical because such cars don't put on too many miles for fear of losing value in the pre-owned segment. I believe (may be incorrect) that most who buy such cars do it from an investment point of view rather than the sheer thrill of driving it down the road or making it scream on the race track on weekends.

Remember reading on one of the forums some time back that highest mileage on a Veyron was about 30K miles.

Coming back to this car, I am wondering if Audi is trying to spin off Italdesign as a fully owned subsidiary few years down the line. It may end up challenging the super specialist Swedish & other Italian brands like Koenigsegg & Pagani.

These cars are not meant to be a daily drive to office cars. Most countries (barring a few like Germany with Autobahns) have places where these can be used. Most just drive these to a track, enjoy performance and pack it back.

Moreover, the people who can afford these cars are generally packed with business meetings or is travelling around the globe sealing and making multimillion dollar deals. They very rarely get time to enjoy these machines and when they do, they do like I mentioned above

A real enthusiast wouldn't be bothered about getting eye stares by driving it in public but has a deep relationship with the car unlike in India where most people just revv the engines high to gather attention and show off.

Looks different and in a good way. Lambo engine means performance = brutal.

Not gonna bother Pagani and likes but who knows later down the line, it can be a good contender.

Right now it's biggest USP is rarity/exclusivity. That's a big deal maker for super rich folks.

Honestly, I expected beter from Italldesign the tail looks too lambo inspired and the nose looks like a fusion between the mad lambo cuts and styling cues blended to the nose of the proposed 2014 lotus esprit and the sides look like a lotus evora. Honestly I hope it looks better from the inside because there seems to be a lack of cohesion on the exterior.
