Default VW CCS Engine. Petrol+Diesel!

Amazingly, Volkswagen have started preliminary testing of a engine that takes technology from both petrol and diesel engines and have come out with what they call is a CCS or Combined Combustion System. Sure, this technology IF it's brought into commercial production is still decades away but it's a great piece on how automotive technology is getting better and better everyday.

So what is CCS and how does it work? A teaser:

The engine has a combustion cycle thatís halfway between that of a diesel and a gasoline engine.
