Alfa Romeo Junior - Grande Punto based baby Alfa

Inspired by the success of BMW's Mini, Alfa will launch the Junior in 2008 to take on the Mini, Audi's new small car and the Fiat 500.

Specs:

Base 1.4L turbo 150hp while the high performance model will have a 1.8L JTB Direct Injection 4 cylinder turbo 220hp unit. Prices start at 16,000 Euro's.

The Junior is based on the Grande Punto platform. Production starts in 2008, the car will be built alongside the Grande Punto.

Next year will also see the new Alfa Crossover based on the Alfa 149 platform. 2.2L 4 cylinder and a Holden sourced 3.2L V6 but tuned to deliver 250bhp and 300Nm of torque will form the petrol units. A 5 cylinder turbo diesel with 400Nm of torque will also be on offer. Pricing will be between 28,000 to 45,000 euro's. The crossover will probably make it to the North American markets in 2009.
