Default Mercedes Benz S600 Pullman (W221 Series)

Mercedes-Benz S 600 Guard Pullman: Mercedes-Benz builds new Pullman State Limousine

Mercedes-Benz engineers are currently developing a new, prestigious luxury limousine with integrated highest protection for governments, businesses, monarchs and heads of state. The armoured Pullman Limousine is based on the long version of the S 600 with a substantially extended wheelbase length. The Mercedes-Benz State Limousine therefore provides a level of roominess worthy of its high-ranking occupants, not to mention outstanding comfort and a fully equipped mobile office. The S 600 Guard Pullman sees the world's oldest car manufacturer continuing its long tradition of building large state carriages with factory-integrated special-protection features.

They'd probably keep the Maybach only for brand-discerning customers.

There is another one, silver in colour which is used by a famous UP politician. Pictures of that car have been posted earlier on the forum.

To my knowledge, theres only 1 original Pullman in the country, the ex presidents car, now owned by a family in Pune, its a 1972 model.
the rest are all stretch versions of various classes of mercs, done here in India or also from bodymakers in Europe and usa.
The 600 series we are talking about were produced from 1963 to 1981, a total of 2677 units were produced! out of which ONLY 486 were PULLMAN's!!!

Hey Scooby...are you a Merc fan by any chance ? Your post evoked some nostalgia on my part. That 600 was a classic and ahead of its time. All the heads of state in the Middle East and Africa used the 600 Pullman. Everything was hydraulically actuated from the windows to the seats. I have a brochure and owners manual with me. The car was powered by a 6.3 L V8 with dry sump lubrication. There was plenty of pressure on MB to launch a replacement and Maybach was the outcome. Comparing the Maybach with the 600 is like chalk and cheese. The 600 was sheer class.

Is my memory playing tricks on me or was that car also owned by Osho before them? (its some strange goldish colour?)

If its black, i think it might be owned by the same family in Pune, or atleast might have been 10years ago.
