Last year pakistan machinery import (tax exempted) has increased many fold and now constitutes more than 50% of its total imports.... and guess what the pakistanis need so much machinery for when their industrial output is going down? Yep, you guessed right, car imports are included in machinery category and exempted from taxes! Second, pakistan (and srilanka) allow import of used cars. That is why they have more imported cars (econo sedans, not just super cars) than India. And finally, these countries do not have any local designed and built (if you discount Habib sitara, a badly designed golf cart called car because it has four wheels) cars like India has and have to import all cars.

Your answer is in your post itself. Pak & SL allow free import of cars because they do not have facilities for manufacturing one.

Its interesting and good that there are no import taxes for cars they import. I only hope that they have the freedom to express their driving skills on road!!!

I am sure the EVOs, Skylines ..and whole lot of bikes that are evicted from Singapore and Malaysia would find new homes!!

I didn't ask any question

Seriously, they do not have manufacturing facilities because the local manufacturers cannot compete with tax free second hand imports which cost less than the local make. Our own TATA's and Mahindra's are able to sell cars in African countries now because when they were trying to stand on their feet in the 90's, they had Indian market to sell their wares to. Had India allowed second hand imports, there wouldn't have been a Indica or a Scorpio.

By the way, pakistan does have couple of local cars. One is the Habib Sitara, a glorified golf cart which led Herr President General Commandu Musharaff to claim that pakistan beat India to make a sub-lakh car. Then there is the Adil car company which makes Geely (chinese) cars under license but had to stop production because no one bought them.

Anyway, sorry for my off-topic posts. I just cannot stand it when people blame Indian tax structure just because it makes imports costly. Pakistan can do what they please even if it is at the cost of its own economy but I am glad that India doesn't have such policies. I would rather have a million econo sedans made in India plying on our roads than 50,000 super duper imports. Do enjoy the videos.

I think i'm glad India is the way it is that way it saves our own industry. Ofcourse I would love to have import taxes reduced on big engined motorcycles coz they don't compete with any Indian manufacturer. About supercars I guess the rich people can afford paying twice as much anyway. We're well off guys. Just having a good cars is no use when the nations economy is bad....not ours ofcourse but our neighbors !

Lets not get into the economy stuff, the collection of cars is really superb quite unlike what we expect to find there and the surprise is real nice. Pakistani citizenship, what is the process to have that?

torque: I'd rather not be ruled by a bunch of mullahs and a general. And have to worry about being shot every second day for something or the other.

Well put. I'm extremely against people criticizing Pakistan for what happened in the past. I was just wondering what you meant by that comment. Thanks for clearing!

Cheers!
