I wonder why is everybody targetting the Ferrari in building a supercar. Anyways Honda, Nissan etc have already launched their "supercars" , the NSX and the R34 respectively. So why would Toyota keep quiet.

So heres Toyota's answer to the Ferrari 360 Modena. The car will be either equipped with the 4.3 litre V8 from the SC430 [bored to 4500 cc and producing 400 bhp] or the V12 engine from the Century. The car will be the most expensive Toyota with a price tag of $100,000.

Nice car, when r they planning to launch it. With 400bhp on tap, it should be able to beat the 360 Modena, provided the car is light weight.

Did you mean the HSC when you said new NSX or was it the NSX-R?

oh ya the HSC. Sorry.
But are they gonna name it HSC or NSX??

Hey sweet looking car. A supercar which is as cheap to maintain as a Corolla - Fantastic

I just hope Toyota can manage to put some character in this car...its products are soooooooo boring. Hey, how about terminal oversteer like the 911?

GTO

Duuno about the HSC, some say it'll be named the new NSX. That car was supposed to come with 350 bhp and is made of Carbon Fibre.

I have a feeling power might come down to 300.

Doesn't Japan have a rule that power can't exceed 280-300 bhp? Or else Nissan, Mitsubishi and Honda would have been more than happy to bring in their true supercars with 400+ bhp.

BTW the Acura DNX (Hybrid) is 400bhp and gives 14kmpl.

ya. Japanese cars are restricted to 280 or 286 bhp. Thats an agreement with the Govt of Japan. The Evo VII that produces around 320 bhp was also the European Evo VII.

U dont have to worry about mileage if u have bought a Jap supercar.
ya. Japanese cars are restricted to 280
Precisely the reason why their brochures will read 276 or 280 bhp. Butttttttttttt it is also a known fact that most manufacturers exceed this figure, while officially quoting lower numbers to stick to the gentlemans agreement.

Think about it, the Koreans print a higher bhp than their cars actually are. The Japanese do the exact opposite

GTO

manufacturers do exceed the 286 bhp figure. But i guess thats only on the Export models. Cars sold in Japan have to be restricted to 286 bhp.

hey gto some terminal oversteer would be great now wouldn't it. but this being toyota i wouldnt be surprised if the make it a FWD. the japanese are pretty much capable of pulling off anything.
id like to wait for this car, if the 2000 GT was anything to go by.
