Many of the Lambo's are named after either a famous bull or the bull-fighter. Muira, Gallardo etc.. Not surprising, considering that their logo has a bull on it

My 3 rupees

1.Volkswagen - means peoples car and was designed by Mr. Ferdinand Porsche and commissioned by Herr Hitler.

2. Porshe 911 was initially named the Porshe 901. But given Peugeots claim on all auto names having 3 digits with a Zero in the middle it became the 911.

3. FIAT - Fabrica Italia Automobili Torino (excuse my Italian)

About Audi - here:- Audi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Funny that; Audi always reminded me of phrase "Audi Alteram partem", which is legalese for "hear the other side".

I think the author intended to talk about car model names not brands. Lamborghini names all its models on Spanish fighting bulls including Diablo, Murcelago and Gallardo.

Gallardo is a breed of bulls. It also means gallant in Spanish. Miura is named after Eduardo Miura and his ranch, whose bulls are extremely fierce.

Countach has nothing to do with bulls or bullfighting.

The HUMMER evolved from the military HMMWV/Humvee. The Humvee was developed by AM General for the US Military and was named HMMWV, short for High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle. Due to the diffuculty of calling out the name in both abbreviated or expanded form, it used to referred to as the Humvee or Hummer, later the HUMMER tag was reserved only for the civilian version.

Lamborghini Murcielago

A bull named Murcielago fought with a matador and was stabbed 24 times, with a rare courage. For this display Murciélago was spared the usual fate of death in the arena.
The Lamborghini Murciélago is named after him.

Audi TT

The car is named for the NSU TT, a small rear-engine model with a formidable racing pedigree that NSU produced in the 1960s and was based on the NSU Prinz, although the modern TT shares next to nothing with that model's design concepts. The NSU TT was, in turn, named for the famous Isle of Man TT (Tourist Trophy) motorcycle races.

You know there's a running joke about the Audi TT' s name in North America. The only way I can make it sound non vulgar is that it's something to do with females (and some males maybe if they don't work out!! ouch that might hurt someone's feelings!!! I'm sorry).
