Just concluded watching a programme on Discovery channel that did a countdown to the seven automobile wonders. These rankings mean just that - wonders ! Not evaluated on any particular parameter. Thought I'd share it with you guys.

7) The ultimate offroader, all-terrain vehicle - Hummer H1 and H2, popularized commercially by Arnold "the Terminator" and made by AM General (GM partner)

6) The first great success on the assembly line - Ford Model T. Came for about $850 in those days.

5) Stylish and elegant - the Jaguar XK120, real curves and the wonderful jaguar lines.

4) One of the first American muscle cars - the Corvette, still coveted and one of the few remaining American icons. Also on this spot was the 1938 Oldsmobile with a "Hydramatic" drive, the first fully automatic transmission on a car.

3) Hybrid technology and green cars - the Toyota Prius.

2) The cute little bug - VW Beetle. Very popular even today, several years after Adolf Hitler sketched a people's car on his napkin. Also on this spot was the MINI cooper. So lovable, the mini-skirt was named after this car.

1) The quintessence of everything fast. Aerodynamic. Introduced as "some people buy cars for practicality, some for the status and a few for the ultimate thrill and speed". The Enzo Ferrari.

Automotive history goes back more than a century, and it must have been some task for discovery to award these salutations. But hats off, its a job well done. Really cant debate any of the receipients listed here.

Of particular interest to me is that there are only two cars that are younger than 10 years. One is the Toyota prius, and hybrid technology is one that I have been following keenly over the last couple of years. The second is my No.2 car all time...The Ferrari Enzo!!

Are you sure the Hummer H2 was also included, I would think that only the almighty H1 would be deserving of that award?

I would love to know how they decided this, 3 American entries out of 7. I mean there are no German entries. The Moodel T was the first mass production car BUT Karl Benz was the one who was the pioneer with his three wheeler.
Look these are my opinions, but off roader should go to the Jeep or the land rover.
The enzo is no slouch but to maintain the fastest production car since '91, i feel the McLaren F1 should have got that position.
The Muscle Car, these are the 7 wonders if you are american. What about the italian racers of the pre war era??
I dont deny these are all really great cars but there is roon for improvement.
My opinion only.

Couldn't agree more on that. There were some from my wish-list left out too, but really can't debate this list. We could probably add more to this list.
Oops, I forgot: the Jeep was mentioned alongside the Hummer as the only worthy predecessor, and the model was Willy ! You're right GTO, H1 was the focus, the H2 just the upscale version and 80% of the H1's offroad manners.

None of the above. Probably a one-time compilation. It'll air again - check the website for timings.
