Pakistan is NOT a free port. That's a misconception.

The reason you see so many imports is because the government has liberalized the duty structure on imports to 100%, with a 2% depreciation allowance per month for upto 25 months. Minimum duty on an imported car is 50% after depreciation.

It might look good to see all these cars on the road but from an economic POV it's horrible. In India your domestic industries are taken seriously and protected. In Pakistan the government has essentially ruined the domestic auto industry by letting these imports pour in.

But why would the Pakistani govt care? So many kickbacks at Customs & Excise.

No offense Amatmo, but from the rest of your post I take it that the certain extent of knowledge about pakistan is not much. You say its 2-3 decades from being a developed country when the whole world has declared pakistan as a failed state?

db1:

That mustang looks like a plain vanilla version or may be a GT but not the GT 500 shelby. The shelby version has two air scoops on the hood and a cobra on the grill.

Nice pics db1! Keep 'em coming. And I would like to see more of your photos and snaps rather than the ones posted in that website.

Does the Civic have a dual tone paintjob??

The 350z looks beautiful except for the ugly front skirts. A Mustang in Pakistan!!! the CLS & 6-series look awesome.
Are there similar Mustangs in India?

db1:

.

nothing wrong with what the world means, your statement is true

the world however meant about the issues like human rights, freedom etc etc etc

i was talking only of the physical pakistan not cultural or the government..pakistan is a failed state as a democracy...and i was not talking of those issues i hope you got my point buddy

rest of the world doesnt appreciate saudi's laws and government either but isnt it developed? iraq which was also considered as a failed state had also always been well developed untill saddams rule collapsed and it had to face continous suicide bombings

so what i meant was regarding physical pakistan which is dependent on the foriegn investments in pakistan

and i was also thinking of he corolla, civic landcruiser police vehicles they have which we dont have in india as yet

you got my point Mayavi?

they have a lot of recent real estate development one i am aware of is the bahria town or something(db1 do correct f i have spelling error in the name of the project) which is pretty impressive
