I visited the US on a business trip way back in 2000. Corvettes were as common as our autorickshaws. So were vipers and porsche's and mustang's. Honda's and Toyota's were the obvious choice with most indians. Back then, digicam's were bulky and very expensive. My VP bought one (3.5 MP) for 350 USD. I however managed with the conventional film roll camera. Used to be the first to get out of the hotel and the last to walk back in. Spent loads of time in parking lots clicking away much to the amusement of everyone. Have over 12 rolls of pics from that trip stashed away in my collection. My colleague there had a red mustang manual tranny and was a car freak herself. I got to drive it around too. Car was a convertible. Sadly she crashed and totalled it soon after i returned. ![]() | |

| Senior - BHPian | Guys today has been a very interesting day. I met up with a friend here who has a dozen Fiats that include a couple of 1100's and the best of the best Fiats. I picked up a lot of spares for him from India, and he was so delighted since finding Fiat parts here is a nightmare and dealing with Italians to import spares is equally as bad as it is for us due to communication and shipping issues. My friend recently picked up this Jag X-type 1987 for $ 500, and I got a ride in it to guess where? the VW parts dealer in El Camino. What I saw there is what you see below errr may be just 25% of what he had . Enjoy the pictures:

| BHPian | Cool pics MF. Some members from bombay must be squirming in their seats after viewing the VW pics .So have you noticed uptil now? What IS with californians and their love affair with chrome rims!! I have to keep my sunglasses on almost all the time here in SD. The flash is just too much for me .Infineon raceway would be a cool getaway. I'm sure of that. Any plans to visit Laguna Seca perhaps? Or San Diego/Los Angeles?? Do let me know if anything forces you to come the SoCal way.. Cheers dude. p.s. Corona is the only beer worth having in this country though. All others are not even worth looking at!

| Senior - BHPian | My bad, pardon my ignorance Addy. Btw I saw an E-type as well. It was driven by an old couple but it was a later model according to my friend. Nice looking car.

| Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | Awesome stuff, im green with envy! Let the pics continue. Im expecting you to bring me back many goodies for my Beetle. ![]() Pick up as many "Dune buggies and Hot VWs" magazines as you can. They're awesome. The NorCal Bus show will be amazing. You will see such levels of restoration on lowly busses, it will drive you mad! The parking lot will also be full of interesting VWs not taking part in the show. Is there a swapmeet as well?
