! But either way fabulous car and it sells for a WHOLE lot of money in the US right now. If you've got one with matching numbers and in a such a good condition like you've posted, we're talking upwards of 100K USD.Btw here's the difference between difference 1960's corvette's. BELOW - This is the 1963/1964 Corvette. 2 side scoops ![]() BELOW - 1966 corvette with 3 vertical gills and knock off wheelsand the side exhaust. Basically the original wheel design that looks like the ones in this picture had no wheel nuts/bolts that could be screwed on. It had a JUST ONE BOLT that had to be Hammered in with a heavy mallet that came with the car. So every couple thousand miles or so you'd have to make sure you had hammered those in to make sure they dont fly out when you're driving. Can you guys imagine that. Knock off wheels had the same design only they came with regular screw on bolts. hence the name knock off. ![]() Below 1967 corvette with a big block engine. How do I know its got a big block? Because of the hood (its called the Stinger hood). ![]() Below And then we have the 1968 corvette (the one that chris tucker drives in rush hour). They're fairly easy to come by here in the US and this generation is way cheaper than the ones above. You could land one in a FANTASTIC condition for 30K. ![]() Just thought I'd add all this in there being a nice Stingray thread.

| I've always been a huge fan of Corvettes and especially the Stingrays. Although I kind of like the 1973 Stingray better, when it comes to looks. And I love the name too. I cannot think of a better name than "Stingray" for these cars? Stingray - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

| Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | @ highwayblaze - I dont know much about these cars. If the owner says its a 1965, then it is a 1965 for me. And if he's taken the trouble of acquiring a number plate to match the car's manufacturing year, he must be pretty sure of it because that number plate alone may have set him back by about Dhs.50k (about 15K USD).

The car in question is not a 1964 nor a 1965. It is a 1963. The distinctive feature is its rear split screen which was only available in the 1963 and discontinued in 1964. So tis car is a 1963 owing to the rear split windscreen.

EDIT: Steer buddy I hate to say this but I was right. I also used Googleji to confirm my doubts. A wiki search revealed the following para I have copied and pasted for the collective information of all us enthusiasts. "1963 would see the introduction of the new Corvette Sting Ray coupé with its distinctive split rear window and fake hood vents as well as an independent rear suspension. The split rear window was discontinued in 1964 due to safety concerns." The link to the entire article is here: Chevrolet Corvette C2 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ![]()

| love the stingrays, i hope to own one someday. they are my favorite corvette model based on appearance. I saw a (i believe 69) black stingray in a library parking lot recently. it was absolutely flawless and made my jaw drop. It looked a lot like the batmobile...i heard the batmobile was based off a corvette, if that's true, is it perhaps based off a stingray specifically?-anyone know? |

| Senior - BHPian | This car has a non-original feature. The side exit exhaust sported by this one only started being offered with the big block engines in 1965, but the split rear window suggests that this one is a 1963 example. Guess the exhausts are an aftermarket modification. Beautiful car anyhow.

Infractions: 0/1 (7) | That's a classic beauty! Awesome pics Steer. Is this the L-88 version? If it is then it might either have 430/550/560bhp under the hood!

| Thats a beautiful car.I think there is one in India which has been featured in BS motoring summer of speed edition last year.It belonged to comedian Mehmood, now a new owner. This year's summer of speed features a Maserati Indy belonging to Vijay mallya.
