Default Lexus to make $225,000 super car

Is this crazy or what: Lexus to charge more than Ferrari F430 for their LF-A roadster. Sure the thing's carbon-fiber and super fast, but why would anyone pop that much money on a Lexus? Worst part is it seems this news is confirmed.

For one thing its hot!! hotter, than a damn F430, but I would have still liked it to be in the 130-150k range, else its not worth it. It needs to prove itself before lexus can bounce around with a 225k car. I have no doubt it will blow the scud or the G SL or GT2 out the water, but it still needed to be cheaper. For starters i wanted one right after I was bored from my GT-R

but nicely done lexus..

In all honesty ZR-1 is almost as good for 1/2 the price and probably better performance to the boot..but i wouldnt dis this car whatsoever..its sex on wheels

Its not always about the name, its about the performance, if i was in the market for a car in that price range and if the lexus is a better performer, i will put my money into it.

I am surprised McLaren F1 is the fastest car around the ring.... I dont think it handles as well as the supercars of today or may be I am wrong, but its a handful around the corners.
I would much prefer a Ferrari F430 over this Lexus anyday... no matter how fast or how well it drives. We all know how good F430 is and its a Ferrari and it had a V8 which screams to 8000 rpm.
No Lexus sports car for me atleast... may be a GT. I dont think apart from few manufactuere anybody know how to make a sportscar.

I dont think there should be an issue that lexus is launching a car with a price tag more than that of a ferrari. If the car is as good as the ferrari, looks wise and performance wise i dont think why they shouldnt give the ferrari's and lambo's a run for their money. It not that the the ferrari's and lambo own that niche segment of fast and beautiful cars. Yeah but it is true that the ferrari and lambo names have an exclusivity of their branding since they cater only to the higher end customers , and lexus being a common brand, they might find difficulties in selling the cars at that segment since customers of this segment are finnicky about the brand exclusivity for the shear snob value.

Earlier NSX showed that a exotic could be everyday drivable, reliable car.

Now LS-F might do the same at a even higher price and performance point. The GT-R has already taken the performance to a high level for a low price. Honda might be getting confused about what to do with NSX.

I hear you guys, but we're ordinary people that care about tangibles like reliability, handling etc...

... and I doubt people that have enough money to buy a 1/4 million dollar car are as oblivious to brand name as we might think. Smug factor is a huge part in the super car arena, more so than reliability. Just ask Ferrari.

The engine shot might not mean anything at this point, but here it is:

What next? Hyundai launching a $150,000 supercar?

Looks like everyone wants to be a part of the supercar/hypercar group.

Anyway, the reports on the new Lexus so far sound promising, so lets see how it turns out in real life.

PS: I'm so proud of the Z06's lap timing around the Ring. For a fraction of the money you pay for other cars on the list, you get similar (or better) performance. Talk about bang for buck.
And they haven't even tested the new ZR-1 yet on the Ring.

Are you serious? Hyundai cannot be compared to a Lexus. I agree 225k is a bit much, i guess 150K would've been a much better and realistic price range.

Supercars is a different ball game.... they dont need to be perfect. A 'perfect' supercar would be a bore.

The price is higher then I expected, but at the same time, it performs. On top of that, reliability in this thing should be solid, something all other exotics just can't preach. I'd be willing to bet the cost of ownership, and hassle factor with this car will be much lower then any other in it's range. For that alone I'd buy it.
