Default The New Masterpeice from Pininfarina-Rolls Hyperion

Legendary Italian car designer delivers one final masterpeice!
Source Auto Express UK
Just days before the start of the Concours d’Elegance show in Pebble Beach, California, Auto Express has lifted the lid on Pininfarina’s latest creation – the Hyperion.
Based on the Rolls Royce Drophead Coupe, the one-off vehicle has been created for an unnamed wealthy car collector, and as you can see from this rendering, is set to be a showstopper.
Due to be officially unveiled at the Californian show on 17th August, the Hyperion will make its European debut at October’s Paris motor show.
The Hyperion takes its name from Greek mythology, and its looks are inspired by classic pre-war Rolls Royces.
However, under the bonnet, the Hyperion shares the latest Drophead Coupe’s 453bhp 6.75-litre V12. And, despite its obvious size, the Hyperion will scorch from 0-62mph in 5.6 seconds.
Pininfarina’s latest creation is its first coach built special since the Ferrari Enzo-based P4/5 it created for collector James Glickenhaus in 2006.
Yours Truly
One of the best contemporary Rolls Royces cheers:

They ought to call it the Rolls Royce SultanofBrunei.

Top down it'll look regal, top up it looks a bit out of proportion. Oh well, not like I can afford it.

p.s. From the side, it's as if they created a 599 superluxo convertible.

This is a very exciting trend we see in the creation of bespoke cars last seen prior to the WWII.

Pininfarina (and possibly others in Italy) have done a couple of gorgeous one offs based on Ferraris for wealthy collectors. And now if they have done this with a RR DHC it definitely marks the beginning of a wave we will see developing. Right at the top end we will see high quality one off automobiles appearing. Imagine special editions of Mercs and BMW's and the Lexus. Wow

What is interesting is also a return to hand made bodies. The old world craftsmanship that enabled the creation of some of the most fabulous shapes obviously thrives in Italy and soon we should see others join in too, hopefully.

I do see computers help in foam moulds etc. So it should be a very interesting blend of technology and art. The end results would be mind boggling. Art returns to the world of car design!

I like this design. Eventhough its little out of propotion between the front & back, it looks real cool. Do you have the picture of the front ?

mjothi only the side view is presently available. The front and also the rear view will be something very aesthetic to look at. The acute angled tail lights also look quite cute.

The normal DHC looks better, if these renderings are what the final car looks like.

Frankly its not what you call a good looking car.The front lights have been given a forced design. The rear is still digestable. But then its pininfarina.I am sure the bookings must be full for next 5 years.

For some strange reason, the first thing that came to mind when I saw the Pininfarina Rolls was, ''This looks like a love child. A Lexus SC430 and a Morgan Aero-8 love child!''

This is a one off design commissioned by an American car collector named Roland Hall, who dedicated the car to the memory of the company's late chairman and CEO, Andrea Pininfarina, killed in a road accident.
