So u were confused as to what are the different nomenclatures that Merc uses for its names. Whats a W124 Merc?? How different is it from the W210?? Check these pics to know the different models along with the model numbers.

Lets start with the SL Class :

W 113 "Pagoda"

What a post, V12. Simply amazing....simply nostalgic.

Way back in the end-60's, my father used to drive the W111 S-Class. It was his pride for a couple of years until the utter scarcity of spares forces him to let the Merc R.I.P.

He insists that it used to sail much better than the C. I always tell him..."well, wait till ya experience in the W126!!"

Well I have seen the evolution of S myself and GTO I'll agree with your Father there. If you want my dad *still has the W111 and the W220.. We can compare em side by side ,
But I had no clue about the SLs (except for 'pagoda' and early Es). So thanks a million v12, you pwn..

p.s. - Now would anybody be kind enough and tell us what do they stand for? would be much easier to remember and explain someone if they ask..

S-Class (large sedans)
SL (Sports Light convertibles),
SLK (Short Light and Kompact);
E-Class (midsize sedans);
C-Class (sedans),
CL (full-size coupes),
CLK (smaller C-Class coupes);
and M-Class (sport utility).

The number after each of these models signifies the engine displacement. For example S600 would be a S Class with a 6000 cc engine. SL500 would be a SL class with a 5000 cc engine.

Not always:

E200 is actually a 1.8, E200 D is a 2.2, E240 is actually a 2.6

S ( super saloon ; also a long distant luxury car )
E ( Mid size luxury cars cause they have it in the touring format too )
C ( Compact class )
CLK ( mid size coupe )
C coupe ( Smaller C coupe )

And correct ajmat hate the new way they play with numbers,

ya ajmat. its not always that the numbers are right. The S350 actually has a 3700cc engine. Its just that in the last 2-3 years that Merc has started using confusing numbers.
