Default Drool! One more of my trips to Singapore

Hi guys, just writing this at Singapore airport while waiting for my flight back to Bombay. Have been here the past couple of days checking out the Second Hand Car Market. The cars here are really cheap after 3 yrs as they can be exported and the owner gets a refund of the COE (Certificate Of Entitlement) which is a major chunk of the cost of the vehicle. Just posting some of the pics that I clicked at the various Second Hand Dealers during my search.

360 MODENA 2000 Model

Another 360 MODENA 2000 Model ( Apparently this one has been bought to be shipped to India, but shipping was delayed after the Tsunami. Am guessing the port of Import was Chennai thats why)

CL 500 2000 Model

S500L 2003 Model

BENTLEY ARNAGE 2001 Model

PORSCHE CARRERA 2003 Model

PORSCHE 911 TURBO 2003 Model

FERRARI 360 SPYDER 2001 Model

FERRARI 360 2001 Model

S600L 2000 Model (19" Wheels)

Enjoy Guys.

Sweet pictures S600! Checking out cars on foreign shores is a dream come true for us petrolheads...I dont remember how many times my neck snapped during trips abroad (most notably in Los Angeles at the Ferrari showroom)

There is a limitation on importing cars more than three years old. Also the duties are very high - basic customs duty on second hand cars to 105 per cent, pushing effective duty on them to over 180 per cent. It is a lot less for new cars. However, if the original prices is low or someone is bring it on TR.......................

if only our duties come down. i mean u must admit we have people buying such stuff even at 100% duty u can imagine if the duty is down by 50% we will have much more to see. its sad that we do not have good option here in buying cars at all

Issue is that local manufacturers have invested a lot so there is a need to protect them. Free import of new cars is fine but used cars can kill a manufacturer - this happened in New Zealand and ireland

yeah.. Customs duty makes those vehicles to import very expensive. And they will take the price of the vehicle which prevails in India at that time.
So, it will too expensive and I also thought of importing from S'pore.
U can get very good vehicles from Singapore for very cheap. For good cars, a minimum of SGD 5k should be spent.
If u want contact details, I can give. Those guys in S'pore will do the shipment, but u will be the responsible person in India to cross the Customs paying all the amounts.
I have calculated. It is almost 200% u will pay.
And I heaerd when I am in Singapore that they will send Used cars as Scrap (cutting the vehicle into 2 parts). That too it will be imorted at Mumbai Port. Not suer of this. Mumbai'tes are u hearing?

Benz, great pics. But how did u upload them from the airport itself?? Anyway, it doesn't make much sense to import cars here unless they are extremely exotic and/or you've got a few heavy swiss bank accounts.
