Default Ferrari 599XX Official Photos Updated

Technology on this 599XX includes an aerodynamic system that greatly increases downforce

Ferrari is touting this 599XX as an extreme track car and it really does look like no street-worthy compromises have yet been made on this concept model.
The 599XX "technical study" was introduced at the Geneva auto show this past March and is based on the 599 GTB Fiorano. What Ferrari will make of it they don't say, but salivating speculation includes the possibility of a 599 Scuderia.
This 599XX comes with 700 hp at 9,000 rpms and an aerodynamic system that greatly increases downforce to 280 kg at 200 km/h and 630 kg at 300 km/h. The Actiflow system includes fans in the rear boot to channel air from beneath the car through two grilles at the back and synthetic jets at the rear also smoothen air flow and reduce drag.
Performance is also maximized on this 599XX by means of the "High Performance Dynamic Concept," which aligns the mechanical limits of the car to electronic controls. Weight is kept down using carbon fiber components and the gearbox has been tweaked to cut shift times to 60 milliseconds.
What Ferrari is doing here is building a track car for a race with no rules using a street car that is not yet street worthy. Makes perfect sense.
Well, we can only guess that all this fancy performance enhancement will indeed trickle down into some variant of a 599 that Ferrari will introduce sometime soon and that will sell remarkably well, because, you know, rich people don't run out of money so easily.
For the rest of you, enjoy the pics.

On a slightly technical note:
Whats the use of the wheel donut?
Is the brake disc inside the donut?

I hope it is as fast as it looks. This car is all about speed and preformance, looks be damned. This is an addition to the Ferrari Racing Programme. Selected Ferrari customers will be given an opprotunity to buy this car and race it for development purposes. Lucky buggers!!!

Ferrari's engineers have used F1-derived 'Donuts', which partly cover the brake discs and wheel rim. These have the dual functions of improving aerodynamics and cooling the brakes.

I am going to say something that i have never said for the Ferraris.

This is BUTT ugly. I mean REally ugly. And its not a car being designed by some racing team, its designed by Ferrari. This is by far the ugliest Ferrari ever.

Ferrari has made many race spec cars, but none of them looked like this. The Enzo XX was sharp and non ferrarish..but definately not ugly like this.
THis might go like sting, but it better go like sting because one would not like to be seen in this

cheers,
ac

Im very disappointed with the interiors.
lacks richness. Why cant they do away with all those knobs and switches and have feather touch buttons?

This is a v Ferrari thingie. whenever they make stripped down versions of their cars they usually do away with everthing...even the carpet goes for a toss.

And the reason of putting knobs and switches is to save weight. Also it adds up to the 'racing look'

cheers,
ac

There is something about the tactile feedback that is provided by a good switch / knob that just cannot be matched by any kind of "feather touch" button in terms of functionality and usability in extreme conditions.

When you're car bursts into flames and you have to hit the kill switch, a big red ugly knob probably works a 100 times better than any silky smooth sexy designed button!

This car is all about functionality and performance!
