HPP, I couldn't make it. It'd be nice if you could share some pics with our community here on teambhp. PS: I notice you have an NSX mentioned in your profile. Do you own one?

personally im not impressed with the genesis,i don't know how it got car of the year.
it looks like its been ripped of from an S class from the front and a Beemer from the Back.
Americans don't have taste in cars like the Brits do

I drove the Genesis Sedan and coupe all weekend. BOTH amazingly great cars. I fell in love with the sedan, didn't want to give it back.

Awesome pics SAP! Lots of nice car, the part i loved the most was, that there were no guard rails or anything around the cars, and people can have a feel of the cars.

Yup, this event is all car owners, so no "show" type roping off. Everyone is free to check everything out.. that's why we are all there. Every month different people show up so you never know what you are going to get to see the next time around.

[HPP, Maverick's talking about the auto show, not cars n coffee]

Maverick, it feels great to be treated like a potential customer at the auto show. You are right -- most companies were there to sell; and unlike other shows; not to just showcase technology or display the top end of their spectrum -- which has its good and bad sides. I prefer this since we spend most of our teenage life looking at unreachable cars, and by the time we grow up we should at least be looking at those we can potentially park in our very own garage.

WOW!! Nice Pictures. love the quad exhausts on the Lexus.

How can a car loving human remain sane in such a place. I would never want to go home from a place like this. "Motor show mein rahunga main, ghar nahi jaunga main"

The quad exhausts on the Lexus are a fake. The real exhaust is integrated into the rear bumper. The chrome pipes are just for show :P

Good pics

Arrow My fav list

Perspective is funny, isn't it? Some cars look (and feel) better in real life than in photos. While some are the other way around -- they look better on photos but have no substance when you actually are near or in them.

So I thought I'll put up a personal list of those cars that stood out in my mind after 2 weeks of the experience.

The good ones (click names for pic reference)

2009 Jaguar XJ8L (My personal favourite. Very classy; especially the interior; good old fashioned luxury. Like being in a modern 5-star hotel. Not to everyone's tastes though; I know some folks who didn't like it after being seated inside) Interior Pic

2009 Range Rover Sport Supercharged (A little pricey and a whole lot understated. Functional, truly sophisticated with some mean muscle)

2009 Mazda MX5 Convertible (The feel from the driver's seat can probably be defined as "a great feel of freedom" -- a great view, exposed to nature -- I can't imagine how good it must feel to drive)

2009 Chevy Cobalt SS Supercharged (A very average-joe puny looking car that toppled some serious veterans on track, unbelievable.)

2009 Cadillac CTS-V (Finally a Caddy with some handling substance to it. Again, unbelievable.)

2009 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 (Hottest rookie with some good creds)

2009 Acura TL (The best futuristic "chiseled, just shaved" look. This is like the other extreme from the Jaguar XJ8L -- this being hi-tech and the Jag being traditional)

Some dissapointments

2009 Subaru Impreza WRX (Very average looking WRX sedan, felt like an aging Schwarzenegger -- probably still quite capable, not just not as sharp as it used to be)

2009 Dodge Challenger (looks great in pictures, but feels oversized and under-tooled in touch and feel; looks macho but lacks character when you get near it)

2009 Chevy Camaro (again, looks great in pictures, but on closer look feels like an old car reshaped and painted; very primitive on touch and feel)

This is my personal list and opinion. Your's can (and probably should) differ.

sAP,

Thanks for the explicit pics. Esp loved reading the Info / Specs board on these cars. I see that most manufacturers now show the MPG. Earlier in the US, people did not know what MPG even meant.

I've driven a Nascar. Ask me and I'll tell you how one sits in it.CRAMPED. but thats the whole idea when G-forces are the order of the day. You don't want to get thrown around do you.

very true. I was helping my friend evaluate a bmw and a lexus and came out of the lexus showroom laughing away. thats a cheap trick.
Nice pix though. I've been to many a shows albeit being custom car shows. I was there as a participant and thoroughly enjoyed being there.
