With the new E-Class just released with more bells and whistles than one can possibly master during those brief years of actual ownership, Mercedes had to be sure the upcoming 2010 S-Class would live up to its reputation as the ultimate full-sized luxury sedan.

Now, thanks to a leak and a scan from a loyal German reader, we have a sneak peek at the brochure for the facelifted S-Class and all that it entails. The litany of technology is there, from Splitview-screen entertainment system, to the parking management assistant with a rear-view camera, to other driver aid tools like Pre-Safe braking, Lane-Departure warning system, LED parking lights and Adaptive Beam Assist.

The lineup of engines also remains another long list, though, it seems, the S320 CDI and the S420 CDI have been axed. The S400 Bluehybrid version has already been announced which rates a pretty impressive 7.9 liters/100 km fuel economy. The S400 Bluehybrid features a 3.5 liter V6 engine with 279 hp and 385 Nm of torque developed with the help of a 20 hp electric motor.

The new S-Class is expected to arrive in dealer showrooms later this year.

That's impressive! I guess MB realized their S is now looking dated compared to the futuristic new 7. The extensive use of LEDs is the key to refreshing a model, MB has used it tastefuly here.

The new Mercedes steering wheels are UGLY! Somehow the new S doesn't do anything for me. I'd pick the BMW over this.

Since the W221 S is a great success & sold a number which is more than the number of its nearest two rivals sales together, they didn't have to make any major changes on the facelift. However the changes are extremely nice & made it look a bit more sharp. I love it & the introduction of new grille for S600 reminds me of the all time legend W140. The new multi-spoke wheels are also faboulous. I wish to have the high-reso pictures soon then only we can have a better evaluation. What ever, as I used to say always these cars should be seen in metal to make its final verdict!

The interiors,trims and gizmos look outstanding as usually and so are the cool colour schemes. As far as the exterior goes , i think the New 'S' has lost it. Looks like one of the new Hyundai's...

Sorry MB fans, the older gen Mercs reeked of class, not this one...

I think its got a very complex design theme.Cleaner lines could be appreciated.Interiors are top notch no doubt and much less cluttered.

+1. Its more of a hyundai style. Does not have the class and grace of current S.
But i liked the colors being offered and the interiors.

These are the official photo released by Mercedes Benz. These snaps are of falgship varient S600. I love the inovative twin-strip on the new grille for S600 & also the twin exaust pipes. There is an additional chrome beeding on the rear bumpers for the S600.
