Well, If you compare this episode with some of the greatest episodes in the past, this one was an average!! But nonetheless brilliant!! Also, did anyone see the STIG photocopying his Head?? and Did anyone see Will young's Picture on Jeremy's desk, or the Teeth whitening kit on Hamster's desk!!!! These lil things is what makes it ohh so brilliant!!

I remember reading before the season started that the BBC forced them to take a 30% budget cut.

Are you kidding me?? If AFTER taking a 30% cut they still managed to go to Abu Dhabi and TD a Murcielago, race it against a Mclaren SLR722, and THEN take a 2-million pound MclarenF1 and Veyron head-to-head... then I think we're in for a friggin good season!

maybe they had some connections with some rich sheikh and got the super/hyper-cars for the show for free

Was it just me or did anyone else feel a touch emotional during the 670 review?

Thumbs up

Saw episode #1 last night and I simply loved it.
What a way to start a new season- a race with a Jag; that too an XK120 (my all time favorite), Michael Schumacher as "The STIG" and Hammond's fun-ride on the bike.

Besides, did someone notice that the Top Gear studio audience population increases every new season!!!

Episode #2: Download in progress.

Anyways, looking forward to a fantastic season, I can hardly wait!!!

Yeah, me too. Hammond was not his usual bubbly self when he was reviewing the car. Serious and thoughtful.

I was very much drawn into how it is the last hurrah for the Murcielago.

The brilliant cinematography didn't hurt either.

Good stuff! Just watched episode 2.

That LP 670-4 SV's engine / exhaust note DOES remind me of the Countach from all those years ago. It really is a fitting last hurrah!

A fitting tribute to a fantastic machine, the Murcielago. The engine note is seriously to die for and I loved that line which Hammond said about the Toyota Prius

I am sad to see the Murci go but I was sadder when the Diablo was confined to the history books.

Am I the only one here or does Lambo make better cars than Ferrari?

They may not be the best mechanically but my can they pull at your heart and make you feel like a boy again!!! Another heart-breaker to go into the history books :(

And I liked to see Stephen Fry(V for Vendetta) on the episode.

Lets hope for more of the same in the next episodes

so closing a road in abu dhabi and speed testing a car has been done before and it seems the top gear team have some friends in the form of a rich sheikh.
In the past, James May tested the bentley flying spur in season 6 episode 10 in a similar fashion
