its only military version. the civilian version is built as ckd kits by AEV - American Expedition Vehicles. they also create the hemi wrangler - jeep wrangler with 6.1ltr chrysler hemi engine. but the only drawback for the J8 jeep is it costs 50,000 USD. the hemi conversion costs around 9000 USD. i want to get one badly.

The wheelbase looks a bit too long.. or is it the pictures.

The SWB still rocks and if the above is chopped to 80 inches we are talking.

Default AEV/Jeep J8

Seems to be the next hummer. A military spec version of the wrangler.

Jalopnik - AEV J8 MILSPEC: Offroading Jeep's Forbidden Fruit - Jeep J8
Jalopnik - AEV J8 MILSPEC: A Jeep J8, Built For Civilians - Aev j8 milspec
was impressed by the review, but these guys are not regular offroaders.

what do you guys think ?

Do the wheels look a tad bit puny on the Jeep? Something a bit bigger & more rugged out to boost the looks of the truck. Open top all the way!

This is more utilitarian - unlike the wranglers you see on this side of the world!

Like I suggested on another thread, wouldn't be a bad idea for Mahindra to look at picking up the rights for the Jeep brand in India , as Chrysler will soon be filing for protection. If they do that then we all can rejoice Anyone here knows Mr.Anand Mahindra, do drop in a word..

Incidentally i was looking at J8 pics yesterday and today i bump into this thread

J8 is too long. May be it serves Millitary purpose. The rear overhand is a little too much. The Break over angle is poor. J8 will be good with larger tyres and a lift job. I have seen stock unlimited. It has atleast visually doesnot have better GC than a Bolero.

I liked the pick up version...I think it is J5

back to roots for jeep eh? it all depends on the financial health of Chrysler. I'd hate to see the dodge Ram's go out of productions. They are the best looking trucks ever.
