This is an amazing race, only to be led by pure BMW technology. I couldn't believe my eyes watching the big wagon smoke the doors off the Ferrari. How is this possible? The specifications are very close, I think the driver of the Ferrari might have bunked the gears. It sounds like they may have! Check it out and let me know what you think! Article: BMW M5 Touring Supersprint vs Ferrari 550 Maranello Watching the video, the BMW takes the lead and keeps it with no chance of the Ferrari ever seeing first place. If I was the Ferrari owner, I'd be very upset. Good job BMW! ![]()

The M5 is a much much newer car with better technology, etc.... I dont think it's a fair comparison. A fair comparison would be the M5 with the 599 GTB or the 612 Scaglietti.

Very true, now that you mention it I agree completely. That is an older Ferrari and somewhat to disadvantage. How about we race a same year BMW wagon as the Ferrari? Completely different results. It's surprising how much bias lies can go into internet videos. What makes the BMW better though? It is still a Ferrari, and considering they are renown for racing I give BMW a cookie for beating them in a wagon. The BMW has a smaller engine with less cylinders, more weight, and still wins. Mechanical logic says the Ferrari should have won, what happened?

Also, I have a feeling(as you mentioned in your original post), the Ferrari was in the wrong gear.

Watching the video closer, the Ferrari stays in first gear and it sounds like he might have had maybe 2,000 rpm left before red line at launch. The launch could have been better from second gear for sure, but the BMW was pulling a good 10 car lead on that Ferrari. It's got a big bore and stroke with decent compression too, I think that might make the difference. That BMW is really fast, that's for sure. We can put groceries and suit cases in the trunk and a huge moving bin on the roof rack and still zoom down the road at speeds greater than most cars. This speaks very highly of the new BMW, I like it. There is something about capability and speed that I love!

It's actually funny how many cars can beat the Ferrari, Lamborghini, and other exotic sports car models. This video below is my favorite! (Guess why?) The poor lambo never stood a chance. Go Subaru!
