| Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | ID:161 1959 Daimler Dart SP250. 2547 cc OHV pushrod V8 with aluminium-alloy hemi-heads on a CI block. ID:162 The front is mutilated. Overall image quality poor. Need a better pic please. ID:163 1961-64 Facel-II with a 6286 cc Chrysler V8 developing 360bhp @ 5200 rpm or a 6765 cc Chrysler V8 developing 390bhp @ 5500 rpm. ID:164 1974-76 Jensen Interceptor Mk III convertible. A Vignale-designed, Dodge 440 Magnum V8-powered, British car with Connolly leather upholstery and Wilton carpets. Can't many of us flood the thread too, with multiple car-challenges to identify at a time? Makes the thread somewhat non-linear to browse, considering that some of us may not have high-speed Internet connections. V-16, you may like to post no more than one at a time. | Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | ID 165 this is the early 60s DAF 600/750...made in Holland, the car sported a twin cylinder engine, and Variomatic transmission, essentially a crude CVT unit, characteristic of all DAF cars. quite popular in europe, especially on home ground.

It's a Daf. (DAF = van Doorne's Automobile Fabriek) ![]() But the pic is not a 1958 to 1963 Daf 600 (600 cc) nor Daf 750 (750 cc). ID:165 is a later generation 1973 Daf-33. If you observe, it has a different front grille, squared-off roofline, less flowing curves. It had an air-cooled 850 cc. Here are pics of the Daf 600 (no separate parking lights) and 750. ![]() ![]() Let me translate the ad: It says, "Faster (reaching) above 100 km/h, in an eye blink" Feller-sneller is a dutch expression like our Delhi bros say, "Fast-shast!" And all Dafs had Variomatic stepless, fully automatic continuously variable transmission. Back in those days, Europeans regarded automatic transmission as an inferior gadget only fit for unskilled Americans. Still, the Van Doone brothers' invention used rubber belts on spring-loaded pulleys instead of a gearbox at the rear of the car. The rear wheel drive has two pulleys with moveable conical drums. The distance between the driving drums(blue) is controlled by the engine's inlet manifold vaccuum in the inlet manifold and rotational speed of the drums. A drive belt (red) between the pulleys transfers the drive to the driven drums (green). Thus a continuously variable reduction ratio is possible. ![]() As each rear wheel had its own pair of conical drums and drive belt, it worked like a limited slip differential. The great traction characteristics, made the DAFs succeed in rallies. It was even used in a Formula 1 car, but was banned after just one race since it gave an unfair advantage. After DAF was sold off to Volvo in 1975, the Van Doorne family retained intellectual property of their Variomatic invention and developed it further into the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) we know today. Van Doorne Transmissie BV out of Tilburg, NL still makes a version of the Variomatic called Transmatic, used in the Nissan Primera. uw commentaren en adviezen, alstublieft? An all-aluminium performance sports car, it is made with a bonded aluminium chassis and hand made coach-built body. It is powered by a 325 BHP, BMW 4.4 litre V8 with VANOS and Valvetronic control system. BMW's Valvetronic system offers continuously variable timing (on both intake and exhaust camshafts) plus continuously variable intake valve lift, from near zero to 10 mm, on the intake camshaft. Valvetronic-equipped engines speed up and slow down by varying valve lift rather than with an intake passage butterfly valve. So the accelerator pedal controls valve lift in a BMW Valvetronic engine. ![]() VANOS (VAriable NOckenwellen Steuerung) Variable Valve Control is BMW's VVT tech. It moves the camshaft position plus/minus 6 degrees. VANOS works on the intake valve gear and double-VANOS on both intake and exhaust. The Morgan Aero 8 also features Bosch ABS, EBD and Drag Torque Control. Priced at UK£ 62,500 [Rs. 54 lakh without taxes], it has a waiting time to delivery of 6 to 12 months.
