ID:325 If its Karl its gotta be a Fiat. I can sense its a Fiat but what type is it? IT looks deceptively like a cross between two Fiats, the 850 coupe and the dino. Also got the shades of a X/19 and the Abarth. I could have sworn it was an Abarth Simca

Default ID:325; 1968 Matra M 530

ID:325 is a 1968 Matra M 530.

It was produced from 1968 to 1973 replacing its predecessor: the Matra/Bonnet D'Jet.

As the Matra M530, it was produced until 1969.
Then at the 1970 Geneva Car show the M530 was exhibited as a Matra-Simca M530LX.

Mechanicals
It was a little fibre-glass bodied coupe with a mid-mounted Ford Taunus V4 engine (behind the 2+2 seats) longitudinally ahead of the live rear axle with a radiator and fan in front.

The engine was so compact that luggage space was available in the rear as well as in the front.

There were two different 1.7 litre engines that put out 72 bhp and 75 bhp, not unlike the power output of the variants of the Willys Hurricane F4 engine.

The Matra M530 was built by bolting fibreglass panels to a steel chassis.
Suspension was coil spring and shocks in all four corners.

The feel
Not unlike European spiders of the sixties, it had a stainless steel dashboard and comfortable bucket seats.

Quite avant-garde in style, the M530 was built down to meet a price rather than up to match a standard. Fit and finish was not tops, but the car was priced so the youth could afford it.

In 1971 the price was reduced to FF 19000 by mounting the headlamps on top the front fenders, rather than concealed inside the fenders.

Folks:
for the benefit of the newcomers here.

We do not post kit cars, designer one-offs and prototypes here.
Only genuine volume production cars.

another thing -- we should follow a discipline here.
Either identify a posted car and close it
or wait 48 hours for somebody else
or the owner to identify and close it
before posting a new car.

@speedy, your ID:324 has been unanswered for 90 hours

Otherwise the forum will move forward with easy to identify cars.
And the tough ones will be left behind.

What does everybody think?
