Default Looks - Mclaren SLR Stirling Moss or 300 SLR?

I came across this photo and was blown away by the looks of these two beauties.

Even after close to 55 years, the 300 SLR still manages to hold its grace against the new SLR. it looks astonishing. i quite like the new slr too but 300 slr is still

I would like to hear other member's opinion about which car looks stunning
the 2009 SLR Stirling Moss or the 1955 300 SLR

My vote goes for 2009 SLR Stirling Moss. A looker

I am not sure if we should consider performance here, as these two are 50 years apart. Nevertheless, for their own time they are extremely modern in technology. So lets keep it to looks only.

P.S: Note to the mods, if possible please add a poll to gauge member's opinion for the same

I'll plump for the 300 SLR - classical elegance, very very powerful (even for today), and legendary to boot, because of its (in)famous history

My vote goes for the 1955 SLR. Remember that the 2009 model apes its looks, and it wouldnt have existed had the original not been such a legend.

indeed, i was so confused choosing one of them. finally choose 2009 SLR. Initially i liked 300 SLR a lot, but a little bit of more analysis and felt that with current innovation in technology, 2009 SLR is much better.

Agreed that it is influenced from 1955 SLR, but i wonder, if Mercedes was to design a similar supercar today, how would have 2009 SLR stacked up against the competition. In terms of look, personality, character, ability to become legend does it have all these characterisitc to carry it off on its shoulder?

That's why this thread.

Though I'm fairly vocal about my love for classic designs, and dismay for most modern design philosophies, I have to vote for the '09 SLR here. It's an awesome design.....and will age well too. The 300 SLR just doesn't do it for me.

I'd choose the '55 SLR over th '09. why? its the big daddy and its got a timeless design. looks sinous even today.

Well well, votes going 6-3 in favour of the 55 SLR, with only Chevelle, GTO and Cooldude1988765 favouring the 2009 car . Mebbe its time to introduce a poll!
