Default Honda recalls pilot SUV's primarily from US, Canada, Mexico

"The Japanese auto major Honda Motor is on a vehicle recall spree if the reports are to go by. It has been reported that the company is now recalling almost 347,000 Pilot sport utility vehicles worldwide for a potential problem with the front seat belts.
According to reports, Honda stated that the recall, which affects vehicles built in Lincoln, Alabama for model years 2009 through 2011, was being performed because the driver or front passenger seat belts could become disconnected from the anchor webbing in an accident, increasing the risk of an injury. Honda said no injuries or deaths have been reported related to the issue. According to the company, the recall was due to a manufacturing error on a small number of front seat belts, where the stitching connecting the lap section of the belt to the outboard anchor webbing may be incomplete or missing. Honda said written notification to Pilot owners will begin in early October. It was also mentioned that almost 311,000 of the Pilot SUVs were in the United States and another 10,000 in Canada, more than 8,000 in Mexico and the rest in other countries.

It can be recalled that earlier this month, Honda recalled about 960,000 Fit subcompacts and other models globally to repair defects including malfunctioning power window switches. In August, the automaker recalled nearly 2.5 million cars, small SUVs and minivans worldwide to repair a software problem that could damage the automotive transmission."

Just read this document on Toyota recalls and the real reason behind them. The document is from Lean Enterprise institute and it looks the issue from the Toyota Quality angle. Document includes the explanation and the root cause analysis. This document also include the NASA link where the investigation and the results are available.

Cant believe that there was not technical reason for the recalls.

Toyota recalls 550,000 cars globally - NDTV Profit

Toyota Motor Corp. is recalling about 550,000 vehicles worldwide — mostly in the United States — for possible problems related to the crankshaft pulley on the engine that could make it harder to steer.

Toyota's U.S. sales unit said in a statement Wednesday that if the problem isn't corrected, there is a possibility the belt for the power steering pump may become detached from the pulley.

The recall affects 283,200 Toyota brand cars and 137,000 Lexus vehicles in the United States, including the 2004 and 2005 Camry, Highlander and Sienna.

Toyota spokesman Dion Corbett said some 38,000 cars are being recalled in Japan, as well as 25,000 in Australia and New Zealand. Corbett said there have been no reports of accidents or injuries related to the problems.

Was just browsing through the news about the latest in the list- Honda! The defective airbags are inflating with excessive pressure upon impacts sending metal and plastic pieces flying to cause injuries and even deaths. A total of 20 accidents have been reported that include two deaths in the U.S.
Honda recalls 304,000 cars for air-bag issues
Bad times for Honda! The untimely Thailand floods have also dented Honda sales in this region.

"Mazda is recalling, has issued a recall of the 2001- and 2002-model-year Mazda Tribute crossover for a possible brake fluid leak.
