Default The New Jaguar E-Type?

Many people were worried about Jaguar’s future when Tata Motors bought it from Ford. Having seen the new luxury car, the XJ, Jaguar seems to be heading in the right direction and it would be great to see what’s next from the marque. According to Autobild, Jaguar would introduce the successor to the legendary E-Type at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Referred to as the XE Roadster, it will go against the Mercedes-Benz SLK, BMW Z4 and Porsche Boxster.
Jaguar boss Mike O’Driscoll told Autobild: “We have a great desire to build this car.” The XE will continue the new design line with a fierce look and a distinctive grille. The body of this small roadster will be made of aluminum and rumored engines will include a 5.0-liter V8 with 385 horsepower and in supercharged version an impressive 510 hp.

Jag's had a distinct feline character in design. This seems more appropriate for the Astons. Somehow these two marques have gotten their design briefs too entangled

Nice muscular design though

Exactly! Jaguar needs a lesson from Mercedes on how to resurrect their past greats

Even though it looks good, I agree with most of you! Jaguar needs to bring back their timeless design and beauty that was so prominent in the E-Type.

This looks more like an Aston Martin (Especially the rear three-quarters) than a Jaguar

Looks nice - sharp and aggressive. But, it's certainly no E-Type. The current XK resembles the E-Type.
As far as small roadsters go, Jaguar should have made the XK180. It was brilliant.

the front looks like a liftoff from the new XJ.
No successor to the E-type for sure!

Gah!

Exactly nitrous. Call it an XE or whatever, but don't name it after the iconic E-type especially when it has NOTHING to suggest the fact

The only resemblance is that it seems to be a VERY small car. Look at the headrests!! A slightly built person would look even larger sitting in it

Its a nice, classy but typical modern design.Jag better christen it anything other than the "successor of E-type".Nothing can replace the timeless E-Type,it was something different altogether. This,on the the other hand just doesn't cut it,at least for the job of filling the E-Type's shoes..!
