Copying a design entirely is one thing, but to apply for a patent for the copied design? Latest victin is VW- Taigun

There is no other way of saying this, this is a 100% Taigun knockoff! But then, China is known for producing Ďreplicasí with manufacturers such as Toyota, Rolls Royce, BMW and Mini being the biggest victims.

The manufacturer in question is believed to be known as Jiangsu Lake Motors. From the translated Chinese document, we understand that their car is simply going to be known as the ĎSUVí.

Guardia di Finanza completed its seizure of imitations of Vespa.

Quote:
The Guardia di Finanza descended upon the show last Thursday, on opening day, and seized 11 Vespa copies from seven different Chinese exhibitors. Italian company Piaggio Group has exclusive rights to the iconic Vespa's shape. Yes, seven companies brought shameless copies of the iconic Italian scooter to an international motorcycle show held in Italy.
The Guardia di Finanza seized the vehicles after determining that they were in breach of the exclusive Piaggio Group right constituted by the three-dimensional trademark registered by Piaggio, which protects the characteristic shape of the Vespa. This right plays a fundamental role in safeguarding the Vespa's distinctive and unique design and is the most complete instrument for the protection of the iconic shape of this global product

China continues the copying game , this time it is the Mercedes G - Wagen!

Quote:
Itís not hard to see itís a blatant rip-off of the Mercedes G-Wagen, with a kind of Jeep/Hummer grille grafted on, along with slightly altered Land Rover Defender headlight assemblies.

This is not a good direction for the industry to turn to, but apparently originality is a concept unheard of at Beijing Auto
.

BAIC BJ80 is just one example of this!

Seen this recently? design cues from VW Taigun, but this is Zotye's T600!

Never knew about this thread, else I have posted it long back! This is interesting, Chery QQ from Chinese manufacturer Chery Automobiles & Daewoo's Matiz share quite a lot. So much that it annoyed GM to the extent that they went on record to say that "the extent of copying is so much that the doors of the QQ and those of the Spark are interchangeable without any modifications."

Here's is the familiar Daewoo Matiz:

And here is the Chery QQ:

Interesting that BYD in its promotional video claims it produces world's best electric cars!

Chinese clone the VW UP!

This is the Weikerui V7, a new LSEV seen on the 2017 Jinan EV Show. It has the same shape, the same size, the same proportions, the same lights, bumpers, and even the logo is very close.

Land Rover wary of Chinese manufacturers copying its designs would not reveal its concepts in future.

Quote:
McGovern was concerned that the design of a forthcoming car could be copied from the concept before the Brit brand launches the production version. JLR has since filed new copyright and unfair competition complaints in China against LandWind X7 builder Jiangling Motors, with the Chaoyang Court serving Jianling with actions.
