Correct- senses when tyre pressure is low based on change in rolling radius

This is displayed when the tyre pressure falls below the reccommended value fixed by the manufacturer of the car. It is a little hard to get initially. They could have made it much simpler than this.

Correct, but rolling radius monitoring is one of the methods. The more popular and accurate method is integrated TPMS sensors on the valve stem (usually inside)

One Hyd based company did release a TPMS kit as an after-market accessory but I guess it didn't get mass market acceptance due to unrealistic pricing. It is available on ebay at a fraction of the local distribution cost though.

@PlatzdaTurbo: What car do you own?

@Hillram: I think apart from Super cars, the high-end cars like Audi, BMW and Merc might have the feature in them.

The Scorpio M-hawk has this feature.I guess its mostly restricted to SUVs,i remember the Hummer having a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System where you can also deflate and the tire at will to get more grip.
