Cassette decks as OE's in cars-No more! These are fading into history. In India these already have as far as brand new cars are concerned. However in the US from the model year 2011 no car maker has offered these as an OE fitting. However its surprising that for cassette deck buffs the Lexus SC 430 in the US market, had the option of having a cassette deck as a factory fitted option for the model year 2010. But this is not so from 2011!

Here is about the first woman ( a lady ex-judge) ever on the Daimler board. One comment says:-
"They managed to get through the whole of the 20th Century and the last decade without any women, Very odd behavior."
while another says
"Not odd, Very German behavior."

VW has posted a record profit of $ 9.9 billion (Euro 7.2 billion) for 2010. The corresponding figure for 2009 was Euro 911 million. They have a strong presence in China, followed by India and Brazil among the emerging markets. The emerging market circle will be completed by their tie up with GAZ of Russia. Thats the full complement of BRIC (for Brazil, Russia, India and China) swaying to the VW tunes from Wolfsburg.
Their US presence is weak. After the Beetle, no other VW car model made an imprint in the largest auto market of the world. It has now outlined a new US specific, VW car model and the urge to triple its sales there by 2018.

The Pope's Mercedes Benz 600 Pullman Landaulet will be exhibited in the U.S. to commemorate 125 years of the motor car patenting by Benz in 1886.
Since 1985 this car is with Mercedes Benz at their museum after 20 years of use by three Popes.
I had seen this one on display at their museum in the Sindelfingen plant, near Stuttgart in 2001. For more you can please see this link:

Now look at this event. It has happened in the US, the land of opportunities and where even mediocrity can shine given the proper opportunity!
But Scott Burgess, the auto critic of Detroit News was not mediocre if we look at his credentials. Unfortunately he resigned following interference by his employers at "Detroit News" as he did not give a "so good" report about the Chrysler 200 in his article "2011 Chrysler 200 falls short of the competition". The reason: An advertiser's advise to Detroit News to water down the critical comments by Scott.
