Default 500,000 Fiat 500C commissioned by Chinese businessman

Quote:
A very wealthy Chinese businessman with 500,000 to spare has decided he wants a Fiat 500 - a Fiat 500 done in gold and diamonds, that is.

The model was commissioned from Italian design house Fenice Milano which has labelled it "La Dolce Vita Gold and Diamonds 200hp". Even the outside of the car features 24K gold particles in the golden pearlescent white paint and there's a gold thread finish to the hood too. But that's just the beginning.

It pains me to no end whenever I read about such irresponsible behaviour by idiots.

conspicuous consumption indeed!!

But lets tarry a bit before we judge the Chinese chap!
what about our own conspicuous consumers?

Remember the great Antilla in Bombay?

and the ugly Mobile Store Rolls Royce?

and the old "classic" Rolls where the particular Royal chap had the roof done in Navy velvet embedded with Diamonds to create the illusion of the night sky? (Of course the taxes paid by his subjects are what paid for all that "blue blooded extravagance", in case we forget!)

then the OSHO fleet of 91 Rolls Royces - all paid for by his "devotees"!!

As long as the Chinese chap is spending his own money and not someone elses why blame him?

Live and let live I would say.

Atleast it affords us lesser mortals a topic of conversation if nothing else!

Such things are done for attention. And attention comes in the form of either negative or positive comments.
