One of the possibilities seen was that of DRS to be kept out of Monaco F1 but it is still allowed. Dont know if racers could actually make good use of DRS in such a route

Sebastian Vettel posted the fastest time Thursday in an action-packed first practice session for the Monaco Grand Prix, with Fernando Alonso showing excellent form and Michael Schumacher sliding off the track.

Says f1pulse.com.

So I see a red ray of hope!

Not sure if someone noticed my typo or not. Or probably noticed and not mentioning it in order to save me some embarrassment. I mistakenly said Pat Dry when it is Pat Fry!

Thank god I am not fried yet for that!

on a serious note, I guess Pat has JUST been given the reins from Aldo Costa. Okay now we should be seeing RED action!

Alonso seems to have given a subtle ultimatum to the Scuderia team to give him the best car .. or else... or else....

Alonso topping FP2 and nearly having FP1 too.

It looks like its going to be Alonso vs. Vettel on Race Day!

And, Schumacher sliding off track was disheartening, although he made up for it with seventh-fastest time.

Whats with Lewis and his moaning about people blocking him! If he accused one driver, people would've thought maybe he was right. Now its just childish and shows that he's trying to find excuses for not winning

Looks like Forza Ferrari is going to give the bulls a run for their money. Alonso is for sure charged up.

Well atleast he is complaining about lapped drivers, unlike another driver that complains when drivers fighting for position with him don't let him through because they are not in the championship fight :P.

I saw the FP2 yesterday and looks like the Maranello cars like the Pirelli soft rubber. The super softs were holding up well towards the end of the session. But the sheer amount of marbles outside the racing line after 90mins looks bad. Massa looks to be heading for WRC! He was slipping, sliding, brushing the armco with the rear wheels on opposite lock and what not.

Vettel did not use up his KERS fully on the flier and looks like he will have some extra speed on saturdays as usual. The qualifying will be a thrilling contest!

Monaco is usually all about qualifying at the front. But with KERS and DRS available, it is very difficult to judge qualifying form from the FP times. I have heard that the extra downforce that the RedBulls inherently seem to have helps them to use the DRS better (longer) than others. And since DRS is usable anywhere on the circuit for qualifying, the RedBulls are likely to be on the front row again.

^^^^ WOW Massa really had to wrestle that thing, the problems he had with the grip probably added an easy 2 seconds.

Awesome Anachronix! Thanks much! That was driving at its limits though seemingly on worn supersofts. I am beginning to like the color coding done by Pirelli for different tires. Seems like Ferrari have something up their sleeves since aero doesn't matter much here.

Also interesting is the new engine cover for Ferrari like Red Bull and McLaren.
