Default Happy birthday to The King of Monaco!

53 years ago to the day, the most respected name in F1 was born to show how it's really done.

As a token of remembrance for all of us F1 fanatics, Let's commemorate this day to cherish the spirit and life of Ayrton Senna.

This is my one of my favorite videos of all time - Senna in one of the most deadliest and scariest, also arguably the most beautiful turbo-era car if not F1 car of all time - the Lotus T98.

"If you are no longer going for the gap, You are no longer a racing driver".
This statement literally made me feel stoned.
Happy birthday to my inspiring Racer and philanthropist "Ayrton senna"

Here are a few great words from the legend himself:

Exactly what I love about him! He was easily the most competitive person psychologically. I think to him anything less than #1 was worse than death itself.

Every ideal race car driver or person in an intense sport should have his mindset, if not #1, then don't bother.

I only see this mindset in Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel today, of course others have it, but you never see themselves upset, whereas this breed is clearly affected.

, I also see that in Lewis Hamilton and that fiery temperament he shows on track is yet to be tamed to the level of Ayrton Senna but i see how he displays similar moves sometimes on track, Not to forget the way he taunts other drivers when something happens to his car and he tries to regain that lost lead.

My favourite from his quotes

"I have no idols. I admire work, dedication and competence."

Sums up the man beautifully. Happy Birthday AS! Wish you were here to shine on like the crazy diamond you were!

Happy Birthday to the late great Ayrton Senna.

Reminds me of one of my first job interviews back in the day in Houston, Texas. Had put down Ayrton Senna as my inspiration in the questionnaire. Had to spend a lot of time trying to explain who Ayrton Senna was. . Needless to say, did not join that company.

BTW, the title of the thread is a little confusing, considering that Monaco actually has a Royal family

Cheers

I was in Austin last year for the GP. I asked a clan of seemingly hardcore F1 fans ( i assumed they knew much as every cell of their body was covered in McLaren fan-wear). I asked them where the DRS zones were, they replied "the whaaaat !!?? " with a face resembling a clear state of confusion.

In another case I saw a group clapping when the front runners were lapping the HRT cars.

Also, i intentionally titled the thread that way, surely the confusion regarding what a birthday wish to a royal family member heightened your curioisity toopen this thread .

Another brilliant high quality onboard video of Senna at Adelaide, 8 minutes of flat out ambition:

Senna was something else. Even if one were to consider everything around him to be a hype, all that becomes useless when you stare at the fact that he qualified more than a second faster than Alain Prost for pole in Monaco.

How you are able to find a second on a track like monaco, and that too against someone like Alain Prost, is insane !
