I suppose one can call this view subjective though...
I was not referring to Alonso's move to McLaren in 2007. I was comparing what Alonso did at Renault and MSC did at Ferrari - both drove back their teams from a sorry state to the limelight.

Hmmm. Well Zen, If one looks at it from that point of view, ALO came from back marker Minardi & drove for Renault from 2003 to 2006 in his first stint. If we look at years 2002 to 2006 the Renault team were a Top 4 team where as Minardi were nowhere. So he actually upgraded by a whole lot.
I don't think I'd be able to comment on the capacity of his contribution during that period, If Ferrari years are anything to go by , So while he may have helped I'm not sure if it must have been in the same vein as Schumacher with Ferrari.

I'm sounding like such a Schumacher fan boy, I'm really not : P.

FIA officially accepts Gene Haas's team in F1. Looks like FIA are currently investigating the possibility of another team 'Forza Rosso' to join. It looks like we'll see 26 cars on the grid after a very long time.

Looks like we got the 4th Merc engined team for next year as Haas would need to close the deal on engine supplier shortly and it is a no brainer with the current situation.

Most excellent!
I've been following the various news articles on this team. It looks like they may be a competitive team up top and not another HRT/Maurussia/Caterham 'budget' team.

It looks like Luca may Indeed get axed in '15. Hints Monty...
I think Ferraris form in 2014 would be the deciding factor o.O

Luca getting axed? Did you mean Domenicali?

Ha! Yes domenicalli .
I wish I knew how much say he has over design direction as part of his role & how much of Ferraris failure is to be blamed on him. Should be complete.
I suppose one could say that him keeping Pat Fry on for so long despite his performance was not wise...

If any team manages to catch up to Mercedes, thus making up 2.5 -3.5 second deficit. It will certainly be a F1 record!

Kudos to the Mercedes Board though, for recognizing that modern F1 needs further micro management of technical duties.

Paddy Lowe, Andy Cowell, Bob Bell, Aldo Costa, Geoff Willis, Ron Meadows.
Thats a long list of Directors.

Clearly its working!

Hope Pat Fry, James Allison and Luca Marmorini can respond.

^^
This is as disconnected from the world of F1 as it gets.

Aldo Costa was fired in 2011 and he's now designed the fastest car in F1 currently.

Mattiacci might be an interim solution. They might get some big guy soon hopefully.

The timing of this is peculiar. Ferrari have Indeed performed poorly in the past, perhaps not as bad as in Bahrain as often but they have.
I wonder if this sudden 'resignation' of Domenicali has anything to do with the Alonso - Luca meeting at his hotel room that was reported in the media. Perhaps an Ultimatum was given by the frustrated Alonso, Luca realising the best driver may leave his team and this is the result?

Oh a side note, RBRs hearing regarding their DQ is now happening...

Yes, I think he may be temporary. What would a Sales guy possibly know anything about running an F1 team. I think this is just Ferrari trying save face in some form o.O
It could be possible Ross Brawn may come back to Ferrari after all if lured well by Luca.

Yes, seems logical. Hope Ross Brawn has cell phone coverage!

Some heads had to roll after the Force Indias and Williams 'lapped' the Ferrari cars when Luca was watching it live.

Is it pure coincidence that the announcement of Mercedes Technical Director Bob Bell leaving the team at the end of this season came out today? He apparently took the decision to leave back in 2013 December.

The reason the Merc is quicker is because of the way they have designed their turbo system. The turbine which sucks the exaust gases has been kept quite far away from the actual intake, so that the gases cool midway. This way they have a smaller intercooler and their regular air intake is apprently closer than others. The initial Ferrari design was similar, but they developed cold feet apparently fearing for stability issues and decided to play safe.
I think they need to give James Allison another year or so to work his magic. He is the only one who can match Adrian Newey out there on chasis design.
