Allison and Ferrari are pretty much where he was with Lotus for last two seasons - a well handling car with the worst power unit available. Even RBR in its glory years didn't have the most powerful engine but they made up for that gap with the Newey effect.

Ferrari this year seems to be a better handler than the rest of the mid field which is certainly Allison effect - Merc and RBR are probably still ahead but the reason they are able to fight with other mid field teams is because they have speed through the twisty sections of the track.

I cannot figure out whether this is an interim fix or a long term solution. Maybe Mattiacci' first job is to 'sell' the F14T to Kimi and Alonso.

Jokes aside, sales guys are known to be aggressive go-getters. Mattiacci may not have the technical knowledge but he will know the targets for sure and he is a winner. He was awarded the Automotive Executive of the Year in 2012. So, either it will get very bad or really very good. Maybe that's exactly what is needed.

His Linkedin page. Look under specialties.

Wished it had come an year earlier though. Last year was perfect for a proper reboot. This is going to be very interesting!

My Initial suspects were correct.
Although according to the linked article it wasn't just Alonso but also Kimi :0.

Maybe Domenicali and Whitmarsh can buy the fishing gear from Brawn and go fishing since both of them need a break now.

There are strong rumors about Brawn's return. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Ferrari is trying to bring Brawn back, something Ferrari could have fixed back in 2008. There were rumors last year about an offer from Ferrari to Brawn and Newey. I dont think Newey would come to Ferrari and I am glad that he wouldnt

Ferrari have already contacted Ross Brawn. Flavio Briatore supposedly declined the role, making it clear he doesn't want to return to F1.

Red Bull lose appeal against Australian GP disqualification

The FIA issued a statement saying: “The court, after having heard the parties and examined their submissions, decided to uphold the decision number 56 of the stewards by which they decided to exclude Infiniti Red Bull Racing’s car number three from the results of the 2014 Australian Grand Prix.

The FIA will publish a full reasoning for the verdict later this week.

Looks like the Mercedes lawyer requested further punishment to Red Bull and it looks like they are afraid Red Bull might catch up with them soon enough.

I don't see why Mercedes is crying so much over the Red Bull issue. Last year, they demanded changing tyre compounds because of the bursts. It would have been safe if Mercedes used those tyres for fewer laps and at a slightly lower pace since others like Lotus and Force India were managing those tyres well. Luckily for Mercedes, other heavy weights like RBR and Ferrari were in the same boat and they pushed to get the regulations changed halfway through the season due to their clout. Lotus and Force India probably had a better chance last year if others had a tyre wear disadvantage. However, they are small fish and the disappointed fan base would be too huge if all big teams are compromised. So FIA decided what was good to retain the fan base. All that tyre compound change for the sake of safety was just a way of seeing if the racing can get more competitive with a tyre change and the fans can be retained. If they can do something like a tyre compound change last season, they can as well do something this year too that would make the battle closer.

"Too many teams throw money at F1 " - Gene Haas (Nascar team owner stepping into F1)

Right. Because everyone else wants to spend millions just for the sake of it.
Wow. Either this guy is the typical American cowboy who is arrogant, or it is the legendary American ignorance that makes his vocal cords speak such things.

If this guy actually thinks you can build an F1 team from USA, and that too, from North Carolina, and be race winning - you are either deluded or you are extremely naive .

It took Force India years with all of its talented British staff and Mallya's conservative budget just to get on the podium once. And then it took another 4 years to get on the podium again.

Legends like Williams and Sauber are still sitting there scratching their heads and this guy thinks you can just walk in from USA and win races.

If you really, really, think you can build a race winning car with a non European staff (specifically British), then this guy is funny.

Another HRT in the making I hope, at least it'll be fun to see the backmarkers piss off the front runners. Who knows, Haas might make HRT look like Red Bull.

I think the reason could be as simple as payback zen : P.

Mercedes tried something shifty last year to try and compete with RBR and tried to get away with it, RBR was the one condemning Merc the most not so much McLaren. This year the tables have turned.

McLaren has to support whatever the 'heart' says. Do you really think McLaren could complain against Mercedes even if they wanted to? As long as Mercedes supplies their engines, McLaren and other customer teams would have to side with Mercedes irrespective of what they think. Things might be different next year once McLaren gets a Honda heart.

I think on all fronts.
For Ferrari, anything but P1 is considered failure.

Its been 7 seasons (including 2014 ofcourse) now and no WDC.
Completely unacceptable for the Tifosi.

I was just reading through the reports of last week's 2-day tests in Bahrain. Looking back, the fact that Ferrari couldn't leverage the Bahrain test at such a crucial time might have been the final nail on Domenicali's coffin. The test was an excellent opportunity for them to try out some changes to ensure that they do better in Italy.

This season might be written off already but if Bahrain repeats in Italy, all those Ferrari fans are not going to keep quiet.
