Apparently, the Merc engineers are very bored with nothing much to work on the W05 this season. One of Nico' engineers added a few details to the trumpet.

With the 2014 WDC title down to a contest between 2 drivers.. I have a feeling next year will be the same.. before Red Bull and Ferrari have a chance to recover. Lewis will be ecstatic at a the best chance he's had of winning back to back titles. He does get very focussed when he's winning, there was only a problem when he's not.

The bulls seem to be slowly closing up the gap with the mercs and I think they will be able to match them by the end of the season.
On the other hand, Ferrari seems to be widening the gap with each race!
I am a big fan of Alonso and Kimi and I hope they give them a car with which their drivers can challenge the mercs and the bulls at least next year!

Here is a excerpt from the Thursday team principals interview at Monaco on Formula1.com. It contains something incredible and at the same time quite funny :

Quote:
Q: (Livio Oricchio - Universo On Line) Itís a question for all you? Whatís your view about the fact that Barcelona the pole position this year was 4.5 seconds slower than last year and the fact that pole position in GP2 would permit the driver to start in 14th position on the grid.

Toto Wolf : Itís an interesting question and if you look at the timing screens you get a completely false picture. If you cut back the aerodynamics by 25 percent, if you cut back the blowing, you have different tyres, you caní expect the cars to go quicker. On the straight in Barcelona, the fastest car was doing 347kph compared to 318 last year. So in Monza I donít know what we will be seeing, but 380 maybe? So the point is we have lost downforce and this is the main reason the cars are slower.

Q: Anything to add Christian, finally?
Christian Horner: I donít think weíll be seeing 380 from our car in Monza.
Horner is shocked!

Default The 2014 F1 Season

Marco Mattiacci insists he made no approach for Red Bull's chief technical officer Adrian Newey and says he is "not aware" of an offer being made by Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo.

This was already denied by Adrian as well earlier in the day, saying he remains "committed to Red Bull for the foreseeable future".

Now what about Brawn?

Also on the other side.

Mercedes has put an end to speculation linking it with a move for Fernando Alonso by handing a two-year contract extension to Nico Rosberg.

Cheers!

Extremely controversial comments by Hamilton -- he claims Rosberg doesn't have the kind of hunger he has because he grew up somewhat poor, whereas Rosberg grew up around boats, jets, and elite private schools !

What a jab! All of this is really interesting if you consider the case of Senna, who was born wealthy like Rosberg.

Lewis shouldn't have said this, he's just motivating Nico more !

Lewis has no idea what it is like to be in a family with a famous surname. It has its own share of disadvantages. For Lewis, every step in his career would have been applauded within his family and in other close circles as someone who always exceeds the expectation.

In case of Nico, his father is already an F1 world champion and people expected Nico to be one too, probably even before Nico ever sat in a go-kart. So anything he achieves would have been seen as "expected" and anything he failed to achieve as "under-performing". Of course, the path to F1 would have been slightly easier for him and he wouldn't have to be waiting to be spotted by a talent spotter but there ends the advantage of the surname.

The same treatment happens across the society and this is not restricted to F1 or sports. Children of famous scientists/doctors/lawyers etc are considered "not as good as his father" even if he is good, but not the best. If the same person carried a different surname, the same society would look upon them as a promising youngster.

Just wait till Tendulkar junior joins the Indian Cricket team and we'll see all sorts of critics comparing a kid with less than 10 matches of experience to the Tendulkar of late 90s and early 2000s.

'Caterham up for sale'

It's not just the F1 team that is up for grabs as Fernandes is selling the entire operation, including the sport scar company.

Thats why he didnt let him pass, and take the win, despite clearly being the #2 driver?

I dont know what Hamilton is smoking, but it clearly is some strong stuff.

Nico drove like a champion & deserved to win the Monaco GP this year as well.
What disappointed me a lot was Lewis's behavior during at the podium ceremony & at the press conference. Having a healthy rivalry is good, but this seems to have gone too far.
Being a Hamilton fan , I hope that this attitude of his doesn't affect his championship chances for this year.
