What is the Race of Champions?

The Race of Champions is a yearly motor racing event that brings together top racing drivers and riders from a multitude of series such as Formula1, LeMans, World Rally Championship, MotoGP, NASCAR, IndyCar, Touring Cars, X-Games, etc, to compete on an even keel in identical machinery. The event first began two and a half decades ago, in 1988.

Racing drivers are grouped in groups of two for the Nations Cup, according to their nationalities. The Individual Race of Champions will see individual drivers battling it out against each other. While the Nations Cup leg of the Race of Champions will take place on the 14th of December, the Individual leg will take place a day later, on the 15th of December.

Top names participating in this year's Race of Champions include F1 legend Michael Schumacher, 9-time LeMans champion Tom Kristensen and reigning World Rally Champion Sebastian Ogier. More such big names are likely to take the field for this year's Race of Champions.
