so looking forward to Valentino being competitive this season...his self-imposed limit of 6 races is extremely interesting. Hope he's right up there with Marc and Jorge and takes the crown this year! Go Valentino!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont know why, but I fancy Pedrosa to do well.
And as for Marquez, he is a one season wonder IMO. He will really struggle.

It will be a fight between MM and JL like last year. I hope Lorenzo wins this one.

With the season about to begin, the picture a little clear regarding who's where. Rossi is looking really good.

The last pre season test is set to conclude tomorrow. Lorenzo is setting the pace on new tyres ( different compound), followed by Pedrosa. Bridgestone has made changes to the tyre (for Phillip Island) following last years debacle at the Phillip Island.

The second Sepang test saw Rossi and Pedrosa topping out with similar lap times i.e 1.59.999 .

Marquez wasn't available for the second and third test due injury caused by accident.
Meanwhile, he blazed the first Sepang test laying down a superb 1’59.533 marker. His pace-setting lap was marginally quicker than the previous best Sepang test time of 1'59.607, registered by Casey Stoner also on the Honda prototype in 2012.

Marquez later produced a strong performance in a race simulation with 15 consecutive laps under the 2’01 mark.

Nine-times World Champion Valentino Rossi set his own personal best Sepang test time of 1’59.727, whilst Jorge Lorenzo clocked the third best time of the day with a notably quick 1’59.866 effort on just his second lap.

Big surprise was Alex Espargaro, who was fourth fastest, and the fastest open class rider.

Ducati has decided to move to open class, sighting the advantage of extra fuel and engines.

Mighty Marc Marquez does it again. Pulls off a cracker of a last lap to go P1. Bautista looks strong too. Look at the starting grid for tomorrow, Marquez, Bautista, Smith. Rossi who looked really good in testing, is far far away from the field.
The real surprise of the season would be Aleix Espargaro. Topping the whole weekend, he crashed 2 bikes in Q2 , both times when he looked good for Pole. If he manages to complete the race, he'll definitely be on podium. He's had quite good starts last season too. Extra fuel to his advantage too.
Expect a cracker of a race tomorrow.

Jungle is what Vale says for him to get thru the field.
MM really pulled out an amazing pole.
J.Lo. has been cribbing.
Looks like a great season opener for P2,3,4,5.. :-)

Excellent opening race of the season. Marquez proves why he is a world champion. Rossi had given everything he got only hard option Tyre the Honda chose had saved Marquez. After a long time i am seeing Rossi race like that.

A peach of an opening race in Qatar. You just could not take your eyes off it. Brilliant run from Marquez and Rossi right on his heels made for a thrilling race. This should go into MOTO GP folklore !

What a race it was! Lorenzo just pulled away from rest on the opening lap, and crashed without finishing it. He would have certainly won. But it was clearly Marquez who gave it all. It was as if it was his day. First, Lorenzo went down. Bradl, who made a superb start, held on to p1, goes down in similar fashion. And then it was epic side by side racing by two of the best riders of all time. VR held on to p1 for quite a few laps, before MM pulled back. It was Honda's speed vs. Yamaha's agility. Last three laps were epic. MM deserves this win.
Quite a few riders went down. Bautista was pretty strong, but mistakes cost him places, then went down ultimately. It was jackpot for Pedrosa, who wasn't as strong as others. Also, Aleix Espargaro got a surprising 4th, because he clearly wasn't as quick compared to qualifying and practice. Maybe cautious due to double Q2 crashes. Anyways, he must be contained by result.
All in all, scintillating race. Great season opener.
Performance of top bikes are pretty similar.

Marc and Rossi, what a race and what a set of final laps. My money is on Rossi to extract the maximum from the bike and take the crown one last time.
