Biggest new from rally Mexico was that Hyundai got their first podium with the i20. And Thierry Neuville almost retired from the race due to a leaking radiator.

And guess what helped, a bottle of Corona. And Neuville is a teetotaler.

Had he not made it back to the official finish in the service park in Leon, he would have lost the podium finish.

Read more here: Teetotal Neuville owes his rally Mexico podium to the bottle of beer he was given at the celebrations after the rally closing power stage. Sponsor Corona couldn't have wished for more publicity from the event.

In other news, Ogier headed a VW 1-2 finish, beating Jari-Matti Latvala to take a three point lead in the standings over his Finnish colleague.

Ingenuity helped Neuville secure a podium finish! It was truly historic for Hyundai to get a podium finish in just the third rally since their comeback in 2014.

Sebastien Ogier claimed VW' 8th consecutive WRC victory after a dominant performance through the second half of the Rally of Portugal. Second place for Hirvonen is his first podium finish since returning to the M-Sport outfit and it was a case of what might have been for the Finn. Mads Ostberg came home a distant third after he was promoted to the final spot on the rostrum when Ott Tanak rolled his Fiesta RS on Saturday morning.
