Exclamation Suzuki to join WRC from 2008

Suzuki has revealed that it will compete in its first WRC season in 2008. The suzuki SX4 has finally made test runs and Suzuki has confirmed that the SX4 will be used in its debut season.

Source: WRC News - http://www.wrc.com

Personally, new teams joining the WRC is great and all that, but Suzuki ?? They're just gonna be a back-runner, the same way Super Aguri are in F1. Not even close to the mid-runners.

you never know, yes maybe initially but they will catch up in a couple of years. when renault entered f1, they were back runners and were the only team to try a 110 V when everyone was running 90V but look at them now.

I agree they can make a name for themselves in WRC but not too soon, they definately have a few more years to go and learn...
Meanwhile look at the teams in the competition Subaru, Ford, Citroen, Peugeot .. these teams have 20 - 30 years of rally experience.
plus they have very very experienced drivers...
But even with such heavyweight experience these guys sometime dont finish.. its so tough in rally.
Remember what happened to Mitsubishi WRC team ..they couldn't even finish a few races.. even while they were running a EVO .. and all the backing in the world.
Lets see how well Suzuki does... they still have a long way to go..

Thats great but I hope they are not as pathetic as last time ...Im a mitsubishi fan.. I proudly wear a ralliart T-shirt ..
Always love to see a Evo VS Subaru shootout whether its a dragstrip or rally ..
I hope their car puts up a fight next time or knock everyone out ... (anyone remembers the Evo 6.5 TME ? )

well suzuki would take sometime to perform in the WRC, Skoda came out with the fabis a few years ago and they still havent got that car upto the mark.. they are still working on it to make it more faster..
the good part is that there are more manufacturers in the WRC..
I also hope Mitsu comes out with a much better car in 2008, cause it was disappointing after all the time and money they spent.. they couldnt get a competitive car.. after being one of the best teams at times..

Why the SX4?! Its originaly utility is a soft-roader even tho its sold in sedan form as well. they should have used the Swift - a.k.a Peugeot 307/Citroen Xsara
