Honda scuppered Fernando Alonso's plans to drive for Porsche in the 2015 Le Mans 24 Hours "at the last second", according to German media.

Alonso's future was the subject of much intrigue last year, with a sabbatical in sports cars mooted as a possibility before his move to McLaren-Honda was confirmed in December. But, according to German website Auto Motor und Sport, the Spaniard retained an interest in racing in Le Mans and hoped to secure a joint deal which would have allowed him to compete alongside his F1 duties, only for Honda to veto the deal at the eleventh hour.

A deal would have seen Alonso drive alongside Force India's Nico Hulkenberg, who will combine F1 duties with Le Mans and another World Endurance Championship event, in one of Porche's three-man teams. The 2015 edition of the famous race takes place on June 13-14, the weekend races in Canada and Austria.

Once Alonso was out of the running Porsche reportedly turned its attentions to German driver Adrian Sutil, who was acrimoniously dropped by Sauber last year. But it appears contractual issues stemming from his time at the Swiss team have prevented him from signing.

Unlike the older days, F1 drivers just around allowed to stretch their legs doing some other form of racing. More so after the Robert Kubica incident. Would have been great to see Alonso drive in the Le Mans series.

Honda allowed to develop their engines during the 2015 season. Hopefully this will bring the others close to Mercedes.

The Williams challenger. No doubt it will be faster. Shame on the nose though. I had hoped the team would ditch it, but they have just made it shorter.

Thanks Deet. I wonder how different looking the actual 2015 Williams will be ; )

I too was hoping the nose would be completely flattened out :P but I guess the most aerodynamically yet regulation pleasing solution will be applied with no regard to aesthetic appeal as usual.

Damn loopholes....

I doubt this will be the nose with which they race at Melbourne, this seems like modification of last year's nose installed purely for the cameras. Am expecting most of the teams to do this.

Looks like cleaner aerodynamics all around on the Williams. I really hope they can continue their good form from 2014 into this season. I agree with Hatari, the nose will be different before the Melbourne GP. Most teams seem to be a bit late on their 2015 car so this could be the nose for the first winter test.

So Toro Rosso, Mercedes and Williams have confirmed their 2015 challengers will be launched on the 1st day of winter testing at Jerez.

New information on the Ferrari 2015 Car, codenamed Ferrari Project 666

The team has also revealed that they are hoping they will be able to run both the cars in Q3 in Australia, which is not very encouraging news but I hope they are building a more long term solution.

Red and White looks fantastic! Lot of hints about this by McLaren and Alonso these past few days. Hope the livery is similar to this one.
The Nose though, is completely off.

I agree. There should be atleast some green somewhere and a dash of white streaks somewhere to give that Tri-Colour look.

But nice colours. Good Luck to SFI!!!!

While the packaging and such was better in a pull rod setup, it never earned them any fruits actually. Maybe going back to the push rod should help.

I was reading about the F14T when I came across this on wikipedia:
Quote:
The Ferrari F14 T (also known by its internal name, Project Code 665)[6] is a Formula One racing car designed by Nicholas Tombazis, Rory Byrne and James Allison[1] for Ferrari to compete in the 2014 Formula One season.
Rory Byrne I now remember was a consultant for last years car. Even he couldnt get the Ferrari to go any quicker even.

Some candid comments from Rosberg about Ferrari's chances in 2015.

Quote:
"I am fully optimistic and believe it will be a duel with Lewis against me again," Rosberg told Germany'sBild newspaper.

Mercedes saw some competition from both Williams and Red Bull, with the latter taking three wins, but Ferrari rarely factored in the battle for the lead.

When asked if he sees Sebastian Vettel as a potential title contender with Ferrari, Rosberg replied: "Sebastian will see my taillights on many occasions.
"I don't want to appear arrogant but if I go by the 2014 results, I can risk it all and say no to a Ferrari challenge - although one should never fully write them off," he added.

Ferrari' new car will be called SF15-T. I wonder why they can't just keep it simple like old days and call it F2015?

Think the most important bit on that new Lotus is this.
