Hey, I'd love to say Michael Schumacher will make it again, but the way Melbourne and KL went, it doesn't look likely does it? Oh well, my vote's with MS anyway!

Alonso looks to be in better shape than ever.

Gone are the days when Renaults used to be called underpowered. If you look at the speed traps, their top speeds are better than most other cars and they accelerate better too.

I think they're producing much more power than they did last year.

Mclaren - doesn't look like a very comfortable car but it is performing though.
BAR Honda - is having an engine reliability crisis.
Toyota - looks strong but will have to see how they perfom in the long run (both drivers are new to the team)
Williams - can't stay away from trouble and crashes.
Red Bull - maynot win but one off their drivers is gonna be in the top 5
Ferrari - lacks pace. They need to get their new cars asap.
Sauber Petronas - mid field performers
Jordan - same as last season (2nd last)
Minardi have been the official tail enders for i dunno how many years now.

My vote stays with Michael, for two reasons:

1. Its a treat to watch him when he has to fight for a win, like in the old days with the Ferrari that was not the most powerful car.

2. This would ensure that there will be a scrap for the top spots, which will hopefully mean more overtaking in a sport that seems to have forgotten that the races are to be won on the racetrack - not in qualifying or pitstop strategy.

3. The change in order seems too drastic to be realistic - when McLaren gave way to Ferrari it was neck and neck for a couple of seasons, going down to the wire. This doesnt seem to be the case here, so I suspect that Ferrari's loss of form is temporary...

2005 Champion - Michael Schumacher!

It'll be a very tough competition with the Renault's, Toyota's and Red Bulls!
don't consider BMW and McLaren the major competitors this season.

Alonso.. i think most people under-estimate his brilliance
schumi shud give him a tough fight for it though

Yep i say Michael too....i think its gonna be the same like every year....in comes the new Ferrari Car for the season and then there goes Schumi on his usual winning spree.... Cant wait for the Bahrain debut of the F2005.

Thumbs up

I strongly feel and hopewe will have a non ferrari driver as champion 2005. May be people like schumi to be but it takes the excitement of the F1 which I used to have long long long back.

one of the causes for ferrari's lack of pace is in fact beyond their control.. it lies with the bridgestone tyres
there are 7 teams running michelins and only 3 running bridgestones
even though ferrari have superior testing facilities and a special relationship with bridgestone, it doesnt seem to be good enough

this, they cannot solve with the introduction of the F2005 and therefore i dont expect them to blaze the opposition away when it is introduced

I'd say Alonso, but I'm a McLaren fan. Kimi has indisputable talent - its just that he has such BAD luck!!! The first race from a good position his engine stops on the start, andd he's shunted back to last. Then in the last race, just as he starts to look strong, a tyre bursts... barrring other such abnormalities, I'm all for him.
I think that MS is over. The Renault Team are blasting all guns, and giving everyone a hug run for the title...
