I think with the Ferrari profits it must be remembered - The approximate waiting time for a car is 2yrs. Its doubtful Ferrari will be able to show those kind of profits for 2009.

Can anybody explain why Mclaren still running 08 Spec wing rather than 09 spec, even Hamilton running the car yesterday did the same

1. BOURDAIS Toro Rosso 1m18.493s
2. HAMILTON McLaren 1m20.737s
3. VETTEL Red Bull 1m20.738s
4. NAKAJIMA Williams 1m20.898s
5. ALONSO Renault 1m21.307s

Difference between Full spec 2009 Red bull and Mclaren with 08 wing is just .001 sec so is red bull the surprise package of the lot. I really pity Alonso for now unless Renault is sand bagging

Yes. Redbull is the shocker package for this year it seems. With Vettel added to it, they will shuffle up the pack this season.
His outing yesterday was a good sample of what to expect ahead. First time on proper dry conditions and with lesser laps, he managed to get close to Hamilton and finished behind him in .001 seconds difference. Wow!

I don't know about the wing. But the MP4-24 was classified as 09 car at Jerez. And Hamilton was the fastest in a 09 car at Jerez. Bourdais's timing was in a 08 spec car.

It was 09 car but only the rear wings were of 08 which is obviously giving more down force

Using the 08 rear wings would help them in getting a reference point which can help them simulate higher downforce levels. This has been a usual practice by Mclaren.

Not possibly a problem with their rear wing is my guess!

The team currently known as Honda will be in Melbourne, but has secured enough backing to guarantee its presence at only the subsequent three Grand Prix according to one report.
The Guardian on Friday agreed with speculation and reports that an immediate solution to the Brackley-based squad's situation, following the withdrawal of owner, sponsor and engine supplier Honda, has been found. But, citing sources 'close to the' team, the British newspaper said the secured $30m funds, in part thanks to Brazilian sponsors backing the rookie Bruno Senna, may get Honda to only Australia, Malaysia, China and Bahrain.

The report also claims Senna and Jenson Button will be powered by Mercedes-Benz V8 engines.

Good to hear that about Honda.
They should now get a new name and move ahead.

Good and bad news, at least Renault will not look in that gaudy way from next year

The Dutch bank ING on Monday announced that it will end its Formula One sponsorship activities at the end of 2009.

It was already clear that Renault's embattled title sponsor was reviewing the F1 programme - which also includes trackside advertising and naming sponsorship of Grand Prix - because of the global financial crisis.

The Dutch government recently moved to safeguard ING Group, who had posted a second consecutive multi-billion dollar quarterly loss and decided to cut F1 spending by 40 percent this year.

The three-year title sponsorship of Renault was due to expire at the end of this year.

A statement said ING has decided ‘not to renew’ the deal and therefore will ‘end its presence in F1’ beyond 2009.

ING has enjoyed the relationship with Renault F1 and will continue to work closely with the team during the final year of the partnership," the statement added.
