After 7 consecutive wins, they fell flat in the 8th attempt,this year.
The Diesel engine was unreliable with the first retirement on the very first day.

Carlos Sainz had it in the bag almost until the last day when he flew off an edge and fell into a ditch. it was quite dramatic. What a disappointment it was for him.
At the end of the event, it was VW that came out at the top by taking all the 3 steps on the podium.

I saw that video of Sainz falling off - on youtube. he was still raring to go, but his navigator broke a few bones.
there was no marking, finally, after sainz's fall, they put a safety vehicle there warning about the drop!
